Stripes ?

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone striped their Marauder (or CV/GM)?

I picked up a pretty good sized rock on my hood last week that left a dent and chip/scratch the size of a quarter on the front portion. I am thinking of getting some Vinyl Graphics to do a double stripe, but don't know how it wil look.

I am VERY fearful to have any paint work done. Everyone wants to "Blend" the corner of the Header panel and the Hood and then re-clear the Header and hood.

And here I was thinking of bringing my DTR to some car shows in Buffalo this Summer. CRAP!

I put a yellow dot on the hood of this pic where the dent/chip is. It's in such a bad spot. Wonder how stipes would look that far out. It'll be on the outer edge of the crease in the hood......

I believe the stripes are no longer on the car but here's a pic from MVII.

Actually, NAVCHAP's MM is blue with white stripes.

He certainly accomplished that. Looks sharp. I need to look up the 70 Mustang. I think it had tappered stripes outside the roll of the hood??????

No dis' to the owner and after all it is a personal preference, however ....

IMO that just confirms that racing stripes ( LeMans, GT, or otherwise ) should be left for Mustangs and similiarly sized cars; not appropriate for BIG cars. :down:

The over-the-top (for lack of a better term) stripes are too narrow for the vehicle.
The gap between the over-the-top stripes is too wide.
The GT (side) stripes ... well, they just gotta go.
The way that the above over-the-top stripes were done, was called skunk stripes long ago and far away; definitely not racing. *Though would be appropriate if (say) you were a member of skunk works racing team. :D

But hey ... That's just my opinion and I could be wrong. However, I am unanimous on that. :cool:

I hear what you're saying and you are certainly entitled to your opinion- no flames here. My observation is as follows:

When I pulled into the hotel parking lot at Indy for MVII, there were more Marauders in one place than I had ever seen. This was the first car I walked to- I thought (and think) the stripes worked well. I also think it suits NAVCHAP very well. Most former Jarheads are a little different than the crowd- I like it that way.

I am so striping my Marauder. I even mocked it up on a random Saturday morning when I had nothing better to do but waste a roll of painter's tape.

You might contact BoB White, at Bob White Decals in Boca Raton, I discussed this same thing with him some time back. He does alot of this with Mustangs, and other models. He advised this was no big deal, and would make them for the Marauder. Not sure, but he may have made them for Navchap..

Thanks for your input all. I am going to have some photoshoped images done. I have an idea to take them from the headlights, back to the windshield. Prolly start at about 5" to zero at the cowl...???

I was thinking maybe a "reflective black" with matching inlay on the rear facia ?????

I searched and searched for something like this yesterday on the net and found NOTHING with tapered stripes lik that. Closest was a Mustang, 68? GT 500????

I really like the painters tape idea. Thats what I call resourcefullness....May need to stop at the hardware store to pick up some electrical tape on the way home.......

There is a Vinyl Graphics shop right around the corner from my home. Once I get some images, I'll give 'em a chance, otherwise it'll be Bob Whites?????

Nice Bowman. I was looking for something to This effect. Sorry, I did it in Paint and I know I suck.... But hopefully you get the idea.

If you look at the untouched pic, you can see the big ding in the front of the hood, just rear of the header panel...

Magindat, I have admired your scheme for some time. Just not my style. I want to keep things stealth, but also need to cover my "issue".

Don't want to get ANY paint work done. I have a vision of a medium grey (possibly metallic) strip as I have drawn on my hood. It would be perfect if I could get it to be reflective (maybe gold) at night....

I also envision the MARAUDER words along the ridge of the hood toward the front, cut out showing the paint through.......Maybe even one thin line up the middle to balance everything if necessary. So many options.

I wish I knew how to use Photoshop.

Joe, must be an upstate NY thing. I have two issues about in the same place. Since its a daily driver, I'm just going to live with them and the scratches on my rear bumper from backing into a "crusty" snow bank. :mad:

I always thought this was a great looking car. Id like to see a silver MM with just one or two shades darker silver stripes in this same pattern.
