I was looking around on SCT's website and found a local dealer that has an in-house dyno and does dyno tuning. They want $150 for 3 pulls with full color printouts of everything and $275 an hour for dyno tuning. That seems extremely high for the dyno tuning. Anyone know of a good dyno shop around in MD?

Kauffman Motorsports is in sourthern PA and I hear they do good Dyno tuning. I think they did Gordon's car.

Also Excessive motorsports in Manassas, VA does dyno tuning.

You'll probably want to call each and discuss your needs/wants, maybe ask around for opinions.

Yes, 275 per hour for tuning is high.

Around here (Chicago), you can get a dyno tune for around 300 bucks, which included 3 hours tuner time, and endless pulls to achieve the end result, a well tuned Marauder. Dyno pulls alone, are usually 2 for 75 bucks, and 3 for 125 bucks, depending on the shop. IMHO, the true numbers come from 3 pulls, added and averaged.

I went to Kaufmanns Motorsports in Dillsburg, Pa. (Right off Route 15) for my N/A tune.
I spent about 4 hours dynoing and doing test drives to get the tune right and (just as importantly) the shift firmness and shift schedule correct.
Cost me a little over $425.00. It would have been cheaper and faster if I didn't have the dog slow SCT 9100 tuner.
I will probably go back for another dyno test and maybe bump the shift points up to 6300 rpm now that the engine is broken in.

Kauffman's did my car a year ago next week. I highly recommend them  I wish I had the time to go back down and have Dave tweak the tune now that I have the Accufab TB.

You all took my answer. They are the only ones in the area that I will let touch my car for tuning. Now I just need time to bring them KB#5.

Forgot I am using Chris' log in.

Very good info guys, thanks. I wonder for maybe a near future month's CAM meet we can do a dyno day or something like that. I will be giving Kauffman's a call to set something up for my tuning.

Gordon,

I did not know you got another KB. When did that happen or did you have to to begin with? Or I could be late in seeing it in your signature.

I'd be up for a dyno day! With A/F :)

Maybe not for tweaking even, but just to be sure things are safe.

If someone could put something together with Kauffman's, I'm up for the trip! :D Provided I can get the time...

We just got it last Friday. I drove it to work today.

Another dyno day sounds good. I'll talk to Gordon about setting it up.

A dyno day would be sweet! Especially after the Safford L/M car show tomorrow and the great turn out were expecting.

I talked to Gordon. He is going to start a thread in the CAM section. Stay tuned!!
