Hey guys,

Breaking in the new Marauder. Took it to Cape Cod this weekend and I now have about 450 miles on the odometer.

There is a ticking noise coming from the engine. Almost like that sound the lifters make when there isn't enough oil in the crankcase. Checked the oil level and that is fine. This friggin' thing sounds like a diesel @ idle. The only reason I can't here it at speed is because of the exhaust and road noise.

I feel I should get it checked by the dealer, unless this is a "normal " Ford DOHC sound and will go away after the break in period.
Has anyone else noticed this type of noise with their cars?

Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Jay

Fuel injectors make a ticking sound. It is normal. It dosen't go away. If you are concerned, take her in. It could be that there is something else wrong.

Yes, mine has always done that. I hear it especially when I'm at an ATM or other place where the sound echos off a wall. I have been told by a few independent sources that this is normal for Ford engines, although I don't recall my 1997 V8 T-Bird doing it.

Thanks for the replies-

"strange" noises have always bothered me with new cars. It feels fine, but the sound is noticeable. I'll get over it if it is a normal Ford sound. My 02 CV did not have it though. Something to keep an eye/ear on I guess.

Sorry about that RF Overlord. I was down to the Seacrest for a "beauty" pageant for my son.
He won his age division(0-23 months) and received a bunch of trophies. He is a handsome boy!

Enjoying the car very much so far. Power over the CV is very noticeable. Will probably upgrade to the 4.10's to improve the low end grunt.

Thanks again

Jay
