Well lets see a lot has happened lately, but heres the one I just couldn't get over. It's not really a story it's just something I did. Both of my cars have exhaust cutoffs so the Marauder purrs and the Blazer roors. I went to go see Tokyo Drift yesterday (think what you want it's still a car movie to me) and I drove over in open headers with my truck. Thats a 350hp small block with no mufflers through downtown Chicago. At first I was kinda scared I would get caught because of how the sound bounced off all the buildings, but after about a block it was more funny then those horn blasters. Just a tap on the gas and it sounds like a dragster is coming down the road. Everyone kept looking at me especially at half throttle. I over powered a motorcycle and infact scared the guy and hit girl when I went past them as they were stopped for a left hand turn. When I would just be driving I would rev it at random people and one time a guy and a girl were walking together and as I reved it the guy grabbed the girl further away from the street. haha I'm such an (you fill in the blank) sometimes. This thing was way too loud in the underground parking lot..... my ears are still ringing! Theres nothing like your small block rooring down the street. Sounds better then music at times. Oh yea... NEVER GOT CAUGHT! Some yelled at me and some cheered me on. On the way back it was about 1am and I was still running with open headers in the city. Sorry this is all unorganized, but I'm bored as a 383 and tired. So there ya go. Open headers in downtown Chicago.

When you are 20, shyte like this is hi-larious. Then you grow up and realise it's annoying dickheaded behavior to the rest of the adult population.
Have fun, check back when the peach fuzz falls off.

I am so god damn sick of all the old farts with their holier-than-thou attitude. its life, and fun with a car at that, deal with it. NO one here is better than anyone else, and are you forgetting you were once 21 too.

Yes, that's true. I was a real DA when I was 21, no doubt about it. Doesn't make it any less annoying when somebody is eat up with it, though.
Like ear hair and water levels in toilet bowls, things change when you reach old fartitude. Especially tolerance of juvenile behavior.

I'm with Donny, he never said he didn't do stuff , he just said when you get older it won't be funny any more, that's all.
Talk to anyone push 40 or over and they'll say the same thing.
If you survive the youthful rush, you'll see it too. If you don't the I guess you were right forever.
Just don't hurt anyone else along the way there.
Have fun.

Nope no one got hurt. And yes I will continue on my ways. I don't think I annoyed everyone because like I said some were cheering me on. As for everyone else... well... haha. I don't understand why some get all crazy over $5,000 sound systems when you can blast those out for 50 bucks with your exhaust. :shake:

Hey now. I'm quite near 42 (old hairy ash) years old.....
Still fun & funny to me....
Don't you think I still bark the tires at lights when I get in the mood. Which is probably too often for an old dude....
Can't say I Ever ran open headers on the street in my 500 + HP T-Bird years ago. Would have been Way too loud. Not to mention. I would have got caught.
Have fun, stay safe, avoid tickets, and who says you HAVE to grow up????

Oh, hell, Charlie, ear hair's nothing; there's lots more other stuff you're just gonna love. Like I always say, getting old ain't for sissies.
BTW, when I took delivery of my '97 Cobra the back seat was always folded down, so I could listen to the sweet exhaust. A year later it was driving me crazy, and I sold the *$%#@ thing. Also, following Gordon & Chris out to Barry's I got to listen to the sweet music from the Kooks on their Kenny Brown MM. Then Zack showed up with his outrageous pipes. Tell you the truth, even at my age, I loved it. :D

Sounds funny to me, but its not something I would do anymore. The last time I did anything like that was with a 600 ci inline 6 cyclinder tank retriever. It was an awesome ride! The engine sounded like a dragster launch, but I think we toped out at 25 mph. It still had the 50 cal turret, but no 50 cal of course. They wont let you keep that after the auction for some reason. Then there was the time we took the school bus for a bar hop run, but thats another storey. .....

:censor: me, I hope God please strike me dead before that day, i didn't buy this car to BEHAVE myself ... :banana2:
I just had a birthday but i sure as HELL do not FEEL as old as I am and I in NO way want to start acting OLD and :sleepy:. Heck I admit this car is one big gas-guzzling fountain of youth, bought for FUN and not to get to church on Sunday early enough to get the good seats up front ...   :rasta:
This Old Fart trims his ear hair, has no clue about the toilet water level and has a stereo that will bring earthworms to the surface w/ just the subs alone. :)

I rather hear loud pipes than loud music anyday and yeah, I'm younger than many for my age and the black stripes on my street let everyone know it. But if I had my daughter next to your car and you pulled that on me I would have reached in and ripped your head off - no car is cool enough or nice enough to out value one of my children - ask your dad - I'd hope he would agree

Well, those that know me also know I have no aversion to loud cars. My old Marauder was pretty loud. There's a difference between loud as in tuned, powerful, and sounds it, and loud as in open headers and a d!ickhead at the wheel. I would hope that if you can't make this distinction now, you will some day.

At 41 you barely register on the Old Fart meter. I didn't notice the water level thingy at 41, so give it a few years.
As I have said, juvenile behavior is not age dependant, but tolerance of it usually is.

Yep you do have a point. I admit, I have not grown up around speedways or garages, nor was my family a 'NASCAR' family, so open headers to me probably would just sound loud. I do know the sound of a nicely tuned Marauder, though, it's one of the things that made me buy mine. :D However I have driven a LOT of cars that had either holes in their mufflers you could roll a pool ball through, no muffler at all (fell off after a Bob Dylan concert and I tried to fix it with six cans of beer, a roll of aluminum foil and a roll of duct tape, but that's another story) or in one case this straight pipe called a cherry bomb (at least my fevered and rum-soaked brain remembers it called that) which sounded REAAALLY NEAT but that was 25 years ago and maybe it didn't, I dunno.
The last car I had that sounded evil and scary was supposed to sound that way, and yeah, its muffler and headers were intact. If i remember correctly they were Edelbrock aluminum headers and intakes and valve covers .. 5.9L v-8 , Holley twin 4 bbl pumpers ... 318 cu bored & blueprinted 40 over, modified racing CAM, X-Pipe, ... changed the anti-sway bars and added racing MAG wheels ... oh baby i loved that car ... that was a mmmm, damn, a 1982 Dodge Mirada sport package. That thing would idle in the driveway and you could WATCH the gas guage go down if you stared at it ... :burnout:
what where we talking about?
Oh yeah, seriously what is it about the toilet water? I am not kidding, i don't get it ...
this is good rum!!

When I ran 2000 watts on 11 meters, I loved to pop the speakers of anyone playing rap music that drove by the house! Just key up and whistle and no more boom boom boom from out front.
