I've got a set of mustang gt wheels I am going to put on my step-dads 93 ranger and take his 5 lug 14x6 rims and use 2 of them as rims for some drag slicks/drag radials. I've seen mustang wheels on ford rangers before so that makes me believe that ranger wheels will fit on the marauder as do the mustang wheels. If anyone has looked into doing this or knows let me know and what slick/drag radial size would work on the wheels. I'm trying to break into the 13's with the minimal amount of peformance parts just as a chanllege to myself.

Thanks,
Chris

are you sure that 14" rims will clear the rear brakes?
yes, rangers run the 5 on 4.5 bolt circle.

6" is pretty narrow...I think you'd be down to a 235 or below DR.

Check out Jegs and Summit, and check the Mickey Thompson ET Streets, drag radials, BFG drag radials, and in their details they will typically state the minimum rim width.

Also, you'll wnat to see what tire height you end up with, this will affect the rear-ratio. This can be a good thing, but too much and you're shift patterns may need adjustment.

Edit: According to Summit, I only found about 2 tires that were 14" rims and minimum wheel width of 6":

Keep in mind Marauder wheels are about 28" in diameter. The MT's are only a 20" diameter tire - that's quite a differece. The BFG's are the best choice with a 24" diamater. That probably still puts your rear ratio to over a 4.10 equivalent, possibly close to a 4.30. If you don't havea tune for 4.10s I think your shift schedule would need tweaking.

You might wanna PM Joe Walsh, see if his friend has another pair of CVPI 16" rims. That's what I ended up going with, considering the price of drag radials the option for the steelies isn't much of a money expenditure compared to the tire prices.

yeah the snow tires alone needed shifpoint tweaks. Let us know how the test fit goes.

Yeah I'm going to test fit them when I get the chance this week. If they don't fit then I'll just go to the junkyard and get some from a 4x4 model which is 15x6. I just looked on Jegs.com and I saw some Hoosier DOT drag radials for 17" wheels, what would be a good tires for 17" drag radials cause I could just use the mustang 17x8 wheels? I've always ran street tires even with my old 89 mustang that did 12.54 @ 109 in the 1/4, no traction until 2nd gear or 70-80ft lol.
