I have a simple problem and I'd like to know if anyone's had the same one and how they fixed it. I have a fairly low-pitched squeak, almost a groan, coming from the brake pedal whenever I depress it. I've tried spraying WD-40 as high as I can go under the dash but it helps only a little. But the squeak definitely sounds like it's coming from inside the car. My girlfriend has exactly the same problem with her 2000 Lincoln LS. Thank you for your thoughts.

I have this - when the pedal is on its way back up, but that is since I had been messing with the plastic pieces under there - thought it might be rubbing up against one of them somewhere, but haven't actually been bothered enough by it to crawl under there and look.

All of my CV's did this and so far the Marauder has not!! :bows:
It is the dust boot on the rod going throught the firewall to the brake booster!!:argue: You can either replace the booster or cut the boot off (what the dealer did on my '98 CV) to stop it??
I tried squirting some lube into the boot with a Hypodermic needle with limited success!!:shake:
This is very common AND ANNOYING with Ford products!!:argue:

Thanks, Marauderjack. I have to replace the booster because the boot is part of the booster and not a separate part? If so, I'm liable to take a knife to the boot this weekend.

I had a similar problem and the dealer replaced the master cylinder and the noise disappeared.

Is your girl friend in both cars when you hear the groan? :D

Same problem here too. I'm taking my car in hopefully saturday for a tranny flush and I was going to have the dealer look at it then.
