View Full Version : Stock size replacement brake pads - What do you like?
I am thinking about getting new pads and rotors for my daily driven MM and was wondering what pads people went with? I will not be increasing the size of the rotors but may go with an 'ebay special' set of slotted/drilled at the same time.
Does anybody have any experience with the Axxis or Hawk HPS pads? Are you happy with them on your daily driver?

Check with Dennis for his EBS upgrade kit. Slotted and dimpled front and rear rotors, OEM matched. EBS "dustless" (and they are) high performance pads for the OEM calipers, and stainless steel braided lines. Add your DOT level III or better brake fluid of choice, and you're good to go. I prefer Wilwood fluid.
Awesome braking power from the OEM spec brake system, with an opportunity for for creative visual improvments as well. Reinhart Automotive...904.276.5003

I also recommend the powerslot Cryo Rotors, guaranteed not to warp. As for pads Hawk HPS have done well for me. Solid improvement over stock set up without hashing out 1k+. I got my Cryo Rotors from Wes Chain from Innovative Interceptors.

Ozz,
I have the EBC system from Dennis Reinhart and they are indeed
fantastic. The rotor runs cooler because the pads suck heat out.
Rotors should last thru 2nd round.
The set was made for undercover persuit cars as exact replacement
for the oem. Some of the pad material is like BProof Vest stuff.
Plus these look super great and have great stopping power hot or cold.
I get comments all the time about their looks and performance.
A super value for the price.
You can do a hard pulldown from 150 and no problem.

Should I be looking at EBC Red or Green for every day use?

Look into Baer Decela rotors. I got mine from Autozone. they do cost more than the ebay specials, but it's Baer. Fronts carry a 3yr warranty against warping and cracking.
I use mine with Akebono ceremaic pads. She stops right now. Looks great. Worth every penny.

I had the Power Slot Cryo rotor with Satisfied G5 pads.
I used them at Poconos and a couple of autocrosses. As hard as I hit the brakes, they didn't have any fade. I didn't get any noise from them either.
I started with Hawk HPS pads a few years ago. Didn't like them. They started to squeel too easily. That was when I wasn't even autocrossing the car.
Right now I am leaning toward Bendix slotted, zinc coated rotors and Axxis Metal Master pads. $291 + S&H.

Ozz,
The pads and rotors from Dennis Reinhart are a step beyond red or green and a newer formula.
Bite-cold or hot Excellent, Fade Resist-Excellent, Hardness-Hard
Bottom line for all around race, rally and persuit.
