I'm a disallusioned former pontiac guy and new to foMoCo, so please bear with me. After owning 7 new TA's and one 04 gto since 1980 and watching gm and pontiac in particular throw away their performance hereitage, I was fed up and walked away. During this period I noticed that the blue oval guys where very active and there is and abundence of performance parts for ford//mercs. As a new Marauder owner, and just coming off a LS1/6sp gto, I was hoping for some suggestions for adding performance to this 300B. The only addition so far is a k&n air filter. The Marauder in 100% stock. I love the vehicle, as a father of 2 girls, 2 and 5, I can now get car seats in the car:D . Any help with performance ideas will be much appreiciated.

Welcome aboard. There is an ambundance of knowledge about power adders from members here.

Basic power adder would be a tune, intake, gears.
From there you can go with exhaust, torque converter.
After that, supercharger.

Welcome!

What would you like to do?

Performance:
Tune
Gears
CAI
Exhaust
Supercharger
Torque Converter

Handling:
Front Sway Bar
Rear Sway Bar
Rear Control Arms (both upper and lower)

The list can really go on for just about forever. It's all up to what you want, and how much you can afford!

Located in Flint, Michigan, Work in Mt.Clemens near detroit at Selfridge Air Force Base. As you see I drive the car mostly on highway and would like to increase the all around performance, 1/4 mile doesn't really do it for me, more like road race performance.

Welcome aboard! I have an '04 DTR as well. I just purchased 4.10's for it and plan on putting them in next week.

Your opportunities are broad wiht this big 'ol Merc. All those on the site, owners and vendors, have done an outstanding job of developing and documenting the progression of modifications for our lovely beasts.

Have fun and take care. You are the owner af a pretty rare car.

Welcome!

There are lots of mods available. Don't jump too quick, make a plan and try to stick to it.

I am in the process of completely blowing my plan. :D

Wow...I went from a Marauder to a Pontiac--the opposite way. I currently run an '05 Bonneville GXP.

You've come to the right place! Welcome! I'd recommend using the search engine to dig up info on power adding and such; as the site's been around since 2002, there's a veritable mountain of information available to you.

Enjoy!

If it's highway driving, gears may not be the best idea. I'd suggest a Pro-Guard skid plate ~$60 from Dennis Reinhart, stud and girdle kit from Wes at innovative interceptors, another one of our sponsors, control arms, and since you live where you do, a Trilogy supercharger kit and tune from Lideo.

There, I've just spent ~ $7,000 of your hard earned cash, and turned your MM into a super car. :burnout:

Just to "stir the pot of confusion" a little more...

I have a 2004 300A...and I "do not" have : A full sized spare, a gas lid release, or an in dash clock.

I do however have traction control.

Humph.....I stand corrected.

I'd say a tune and sway bars are two of the most inexpensive noticeable improvements you can make but caution....it's addictive.

A BLOWER and FAT rear tires is all you need unless you like the "Twisties"!! If so a couple sway bars and you will have an ENDLESS SMILE!! ;)

Welcome Aboard!!:D

Congratulations on making the decision to buy a 2004 Marauder! I'm very sure that you won't have any regrets owning your Marauder. Its rare (especially the 2004 models). It has all of the high performance parts right from the factory. It looks so incredibly cool either standing still, or while at speed. It draws comments from almost everyone who sees one. And finally, it can be used as a very comfortable family car when need be.
*
First, I'd install the 4.10:1 rear axle gears, the Alternative Auto tuning (adds 20HP and shifts the trans much better for performance), and the cast aluminum axle girdle and studs. These are simple and relatively less expensive mods (maybe $ 1350 total).
*
Second, you can install the engine intake spacers. They're good for another 5HP to 8HP, and cost maybe $ 250.00 max installed. Install the K&N air intake filter system. Its probably good for another 8HP (real world). It sells for $ 229 to $ 279 + installation.
*
Third, you then get into the more elaborate and expensive mods, such as headers, new exhaust sytems (tubes, crossovers, mufflers), MetalMatrix drive shaft conversion, control arms, transmission higher stall converters, supercharger or turbocharger systems, etc. This category is more expensive, and is probably left to the big boys with deep pockets. But the single biggest bang for the buck would be the supercharger. It can add 150HP alone!
*
A relatively cheap and quick add-on is the factory OEM rear decklid spoiler ($ 450 painted and installed). If you like it, it'll make your Marauder look even cooler. You can also get the Marauder rear bumper stainless steel letters, the door sill trim plates, or the megs exhaust tips without the built-in resonators. Anyhow, enjoy your new Marauder anyway you like it best!
Jim

PS: All 2004 Marauders are listed on the factory window sticker as 300A. But, a 2004 300A's are virtully the same as the 2003 300B's. That's where the confusion comes in. I have a 2004 Marauder specifications and general information sheet that I've put together. If you'd like a copy, you can reach me at 423read@comcast.net, and i'll e-mail it to you.

You work very near one of the top Marauder / Ford tuners in the nation.

Enjoy... Because I have to drive 10 hours to get there!!!!

As others have said^^^, you're just around the corner from Lidio's shop...by all means go visit him...he runs one of the two best Marauder shops in the country (the other being Dennis Reinhart in FLA).

Welcime to the empty pockets website.:)
That being said, you will enjoy the informative conversation from everyone on the website.
The dollars spent vs. smile factor will definatly be in your favor when its all said and done.
As was said earlier in the thread, mapping out the direction that you want to go after doing a seach is the best way to go.
You will have no other choice, you will enjoy this car.
There is no turning back now,
only this time, you won't be sorry.:D

Welcome! As the father of 2 kids, my favorite feature of the Marauder just might be space! If the 4 of us are going anywhere, you can bet the Merc is our performance car of choice!

Take your time... lots of ways to build a Marauder... make sure you pick a flavor you like.

Mine is a (nearly) daily driver. Initially I thought I'd do 4.10s, and even thought about 4.33s. After getting an attitude adjustment from Lidio though, I'm very happy with it having 3.55s and awaiting the superchargers.

I'll take it to the strip to see what it can do, but I really don't want to build it into a 1/4 mile car. If I wasn't going to s/c it, I'd do 4.10s, but with my heart set on boost I'll put the $$ towards that instead.

Have fun! Lots of folks here who have spent way too many hours thinking about ways to improve their MM, so learn all you can.

Cheers,
Greg
