There is no such thing as a Mercury Marauder Owner's Guide right?

I'm not the only person stuck with a 2003 Grand Marquis Owner's Guide right???

Sorry, dude; mine says "2003 Marauder / Owner's Guide" on the cover...

Yes there is. Your dealer gave you the wrong one if yours says Grand Marquis

Oh boy that sux, the dealer told me there was no such beast as an MM Owner's Guide, and when i called the Ford Customer Relations number directly they said they same thing!

Maybe there were none at the time i bought my MM???

08/29/02

Why would Mercury lie to me?

Oh man.
I'm pretty sure my was a MM guide, not a GM book.

But ... darn those nagging doubts. Now I have to go outside (in the pouring rain) to check.

Thanks a lot guys.

Mercury total investment in Marauder = $00.00 No doubt about it. What a shame. To bring a car like this to market and duh?

Tell your dealer to log on the http://www.helminc.com web site and order you one.

Eric: No one was intentionally lying to you...the problem is that NO ONE at Ford Motor Company has any clue about this car...dealers don't know how to sell it or service it, Mercury doesn't know how to advertise it, and from all the changes we've seen, and the problems people on this board have had with quality control, Ford doesn't know how to build it. The only people who seem to have any knowledge of this car whatsoever, are the esteemed members of this board...and that's pretty sad.

On the bright side, the car is destined to become a curiosity/oddity/rarity, so that may eventually keep its value up; also, most of its parts are from other bins at Ford, so we should be able to keep our Black Beauties* running for a while after they've become a distant memory...

*- OK, that includes Blue Beauties and Silver Beauties, too... :D

Eric,

I purchased my MM on 08/22/02 and I did get a Marauder Owners Manual and Guide.

Good luck

It WOULD have looked better on the cover with a red Mercury godhead, though...

I know...just another "nit-picky" complaint.

I agree with RF The dealers and FMC represenatives know very little about he MM and they don't seem to care. I think they are just hoping and biding their time for the Marauder to go away again. IMHO. John:(

Ok, i called Ford Customer Care, as my dealer doesn't return my phone calls. Here are some highlights of the conversation:

FMC: You have a Mercury Morder?
FMC: There is no owner's manual for the 2003 Morder, only 2004
FMC: The Morder is a base model Grand Marquis, that's why your dealer gave you a GM manual.
FMC: Our research department will search for a 2003 Morder manual and send it to you.

...ain't that grand....Mercury's research department is busy looking for owner's guides instead of working on cars :-)

I told them i found the manual on Helm's website, they said "oh it doesn't exist, so they won't have it".

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

SOMEBODY POST A PICTURE FOR ERIC TO TAKE IN TO HIS DEALER. I would, but mine is in the body shop. With a picture and the statement that everybody else has one, they won't be able to continue to give you the "dosen't exisit" BS.

Absolutely amazing......the tales here get better and better. It is incredible that a company with such a Vanilla car line as Mercury is not doing all that is possible to keep this car.
Would'nt suprise me if Mercury becomes an extinct nameplate like Plymouth and yet to be defunct Olsmobile.
It is ashamed that Ford can not see a car like the Marauder through to higher standards of production and sales.
I suppose this is why the imports are dominating the American car market today.
I still love my MM ..........

Usually there is a part number on the back of these printed do***ents. I don't have mine with me, but maybe you can find it.

Ray, either you are from Yorkshire yourself, or you saw the 4 Yorkshiremen skit on Monty Python.

I think that Flat Eric is the first I heard of with this problem, but then again, all Marauder owners are not members here, yet.

Oh...Did I accidentally leave my quality crafted, custom made, handsome looking, everybody should have one, promptly shipped, reasonably priced (even after Canadian exchange), leak free, stylish, fits perfectly in the overhead bin, conversation prompting, brand specific, Craftypoke Industries (tm) pen laying on top of the manual when I took that picture? I'm sorry.

PS...I thought this thread was long dead. Poke, you owe Marty and John a frosty beverage (finders fee).

Well, i have to correct myself....the story is not over.

So two weeks after my dealer sends me the MM owner's guide, today in the mail i get a package from Mercury (via Helm), so me thinks..."finally my call to Customer Support is answered"...

i carefully open the package expecting another MM owner's guide.

But No!!!!! It's another Grand Marquis 2003 owner's guide frehsly wrapped in plastic" Oh JOY!

To think, after weeks of research this is what Mercury's Research Department came up with....

oh god how (^*&#@#@

Flat Eric: Send me an e-Mail and I will drive up to your dealership and show them the book! I can not belive that you are having this much trouble? I'll have to drive the F-150 as the Marauder is in the shop getting the top put on.

Jim - I beleive Eric has the correct owners manual. The one he received from FMC via Helm was for a GM. The FMC reps still don't know what the MM is. IMHO. They are:confused:

Contact Helm and tell them they sent the wrong manual. They'll exchange it

Thanks for the offer Bigdog :-)

My dealer did send me the correct one.
Mercury sent me the GM guide....i guess it's understandable since they think

"The Marauder is a base model Grand Marquis"

and thats a direct quote from their phone support!

well do as I suggested and you'll have two Marauder owner guides now then
