The governer, only allows 2003 marauder reach 120 mph.. where is the unit located, and are their any options for it to be eliminated?

It's electronic and can be adjusted with a custom aftermarket tune.

I wouldn't trust your "average" speed shop to do it. In fact they most likely couldn't do it. You need a tuner and a tune for one of the vendors here. The "tune" greatly improves the MM hp, shifting and if you ask the vendor to eliminate the speed limiter they'll do it. The "tuner" is used to reprogram the cars computer with the new "tune".

There are two options, either a tuner (plugs in computer port, not sure where) or hard chip.

Go to either Rienhart automotive or Alternative Auto in the supplier section.

Check the "forums" (at the top of the page - click on "forums", see the vendor section). Also checkout: http://www.sctflash.com/ The SCT tuner is one of the more popular hand-held tuners. The tuner plugs into the OBDII port located under the dash on the drivers side near the center console.

The "tune" alters different parameters in your ECM. Alot of things are controlled by the ECM these days. You can adjust your speedo if you install different gears, change the shift points and shift firmness of the transmission, change the rev-limiter point, change the default setting ON for traction control, remove the top-speed limiter, Trq convertor lock up speed and overdrive shift point, etc.

With a performance tune and changing nothing else, you can significantly change the driveability of the car. The tune will transition the car from a luxo-barge feel to a sports sedan feel.
