Is the air suspension system on my 1997 Mark 8 the same as my marauder???
The rear end on the Mark just sat down and they want to replace the "dryer"...? What the "dryer"?
Thanks in advance for any information....architect

They are similar, but the sensor on the mark is different.
The dryer helps to keep moisture out of the bags. The compressor will accumulate moisture just like a tool compressor. That moisture has no where to go except into the air bags. over time this would not only do the normal corrosion thing, but would also decrease the effective volume of air in the bags.
The dryer is probably loaded and sprung a leak thus leaking the entire system.

I believe it's different. On ebay there is a vendor where you can get all the air suspension stuff for a really good deal, if you can work on it yourself. Check out this ebay seller: arnott32920

I believe that the Mark VIII air suspension system has an air bag built into the strut assy.

Yeah, that's why the different sensor. Independant susp. I think the compressor assy is very similar, though.

no, the compressor is completely different. mounting, size, outlets, all different.
Having modified the air system on my 97 mark i traded in, i know about it..
the front bags have a strut built into them, the rear are just bags. they take the place of a coil spring much in the same way as the MM's
there are 4 sensor on the mark, one on each corner. nothing much is interchangeable between the mark and MM for air suspension..

Hi Architect,
Good to see youre still around. I have purchased from these guys before http://www.strutmasters.com/catalog.php?cat=15
they carry conversions to get rid of your Air bag suspension or repair it.
