Well I'm still searching for the right 04 MM to buy. It's looking like the one I end up buying will probably come from across the country so it will be purchased basically sight unseen which makes me a little nervous.
I'm thinking that as long as I purchase a MM with under 36k miles I should have no problem getting a Ford backed extended warranty.
So my question is what's the best way to go about buying a Ford extended warranty?
I looked around the net and found a few Ford dealers selling them online but wouldn't I be better of trying my local Ford L/M dealerships first?
Yes I know there are lots of profit in the warranty and that the price is negotiable which is why I'm thinking that it would be easier to negotiate the price in person at a local dealership. Anybody agree with this thinking?
I would be looking at the top of the line Premium 100k 7 year warranty plan.
If anyone cares to post what they paid for their Ford backed extended warranty I'd appreciate the info.

PS- Still looking for a 04 Silver MM with the charcoal interior and no sunroof. Would like mileage to be under 25k.

5yr/100,000 Premium Care, $50 Deductible (after 12 months/12,000 miles) - $1620 with tax.
I wrote (after 12 months/12,000 miles) because there is an additional $100 charge.
This is in ADDITION to whatever warranty you choose.
Go to a dealer with a friend who has an excellent relationship with a salesperson.
This is the best advice I can give to anyone.
Going in cold turkey may not get you a discount.
Buying from a dealer, over the internet, may not get youa warranty either.
It has to be posted to Oasis, or else it doesn't exist.

Does anyone know if Ford has an official Extended Warranty website?
There are a few websites that at a first glance you would think they were from FMC but if you look closer they are actually dealers who are just using the words Ford Extended Warranty in their domain name.
I'm going to go look at Ford.com right now. Maybe they have an ESP link.

My Ford extended warranty was less than $1,000.00, purchased when I bought my MM new. If buying out of state yo could do a few things. PM the VIN to RoyLapita, ask if there are any MM.net members locally who can look at the car and run a CarFax report on it.

Yes good advice. Roy has been very kind and has run a few vins for me already.
I found a link to the official Ford ESP warranty site:

They wont sell online to me in California but I put in another state to see what the retail price was for the 7yr 100k.
It was over $3200

I bought my MM and extended warranty at carmax. Then 3 weeks later I got a much better deal in the mail from First national Warranty. 120,000 mile, 7 year warranty, that covered alot more for $1800

Keep in mind if you're planning on modifying it.
This is the main reason I didn't bother with the extended coverage.

Hey:
I bought me extended warranty at www.fordwarrantys.com. I'm fairly sure that some others did buy from them as well. I paid about $600 for the 5yr/100k BaseCare coverage when I had 19k on the MM. Now just let me add a few words of warning.
I did some minor mods and when the SCT tuner "blew up" my PCM , I had to pay $1k out of my own pocket to fix it. Be careful and realize that if you do any mods they will rightfully deny warranty coverage. But if you get the full coverage, you shouldn't have any issues getting your warranty claims filled by any dealer no matter where you bought it. You are more likely to loose the HVAC control or such item and they have to replace this no matter what you did to your car.
Hope this helps. I know its a little of topic, but hope it is helpful.
Thanks,
Peter
