Hello! Anyone have the same problem? AM works only part of the time, all else is ok.

AM band reception is weak, and short ranged for AM reception at large. "In the window" attenna seems the culprit, tint doesn't help.

I noticed that all is well until I put on the rear defrost, then I get a lot of static FM or AM.

I reside in the Tampa, FL area, and the radio worked just fine AM/FM until recently. It's not the reception, its like it just stops working. A few times, it (sound) faded back into normal, but now it's just dead on AM only. Weird, but true!

Sounds like you have a break somewhere in your defroster grid. Put a bright light on the inside of the back window facing out, inspect the defroster grid lines and look for small cracks, etc.

YOu may have a problem with the antenna module (in trunk, mounted to underside of package shelf, silver box, check connections) or the radio itself. With the radio on, and playing an AM station, press and hold the 3 and 6 button simeltaneously. Press the '2' button and compare with the list found on this site http://www.p71interceptor.com/radio/selftest.html

May/or may not be of help for this particular problem, can't hurt though.

My AM started "crackling" about 4 weeks ago and then about two weeks lost both AM & FM.
Didn't mind though - gave me a reason to replace with the AVCOZ1 Pioneer GPS with much better Pioneer speakers, etc. :D
While I was shopping - bought a rear camera which will show 'my 6' on the GPS screen when in reverse. Will be installed late next week - can't wait!!
Think about it - the 7" screen fits perfect into the radio slot.

PR :burnout:
