View Full Version : So, do you miss your Marauder?

For those of you who sold or traded your Marauder in do you miss it much?
Was your new car worth it? Would you buy another one if it was in your
budget?
For me, my Marauder was a lemon. Santa gets a smaller list then my list of
problems. But I will say, there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss
my beast. Bought it with 6,000mi and traded in at 20,000. No, its not in
my budget to buy another, but lets just say who would I have to kill to
put another one in my driveway. :)
EDIT: SORRY ment to post this in Comm. Discussion!

Yes. I wish I wouldn't have sold it. I guess time will take care of it or maybe when my new GT 500 is ordered.:D

ok i cant answer your question bc i still own a beast, but do you not think theres plenty of marauders out there that would be just as reliable as a TL??

Do not get me wrong, Im not saying Marauders are bad cars at all.
BUT after my ordeal with the treatment from my dealer and vehicle,
it is a different story then most. There is a lemon in every bunch. Not
sure what your question has to do with missing a car though...

Yeah! I can say I miss the beast. Mainly due to the huge trunk and the
ability to carry whatever I threw in her. At 100K+ miles, though, it was time for her to go. Although the new Mustang GT is a great car, I miss the space. I don't miss the added expense of gas though. The cost difference between regular, premium, and the added MPG's the 'stang kinda make up for the rest, a little! I was trying to hang off till for the GT500 till I say the cost....just wasn't worth it to me......

I thought I would miss the MM but thats not the case. The new car blows away my MM in every way. Expensive, but worth it.
Would I buy another MM? Absolutely. Awesome car for the money

My Marauder might have to be sold soon due to the fact I am taking a buyout from Ford and I have a large note on the car. This will be a sad day for me.:depress:

H*ll yeah, I miss her!!!!! Financial necessity due to an A**hole EX-husband forced me to sell her. Glad He's gone, but, not the MM. Everytime I see one on the road it just plain hurts. I know there are plenty of faster, sharper, whatever vehicles, but, I'd get another in a heartbeat if I could.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the site and your new (and fast) rides.
BTW, I will only miss my MM when I am not finished with it. And that is how it has been with all of my cars.

Yes.
I've elaborated on the "why" and "how" in the thread that I posted detailing the trade and the replacement vehicle...I still feel, almost three months later, that the Hulk went before it's time. I'm mad at the gov't subcontractor that trashed it, and left feeling helpless because the subcontractor's own rules leave me with no recourse. Bastards....hope their friggin' ship sinks...
Still...this GXP is running pretty well. Say what you like about GM, and Pontiac in particular, but they got the details right. Still woulda liked a Charger, but the sight of my happy wife driving the GXP takes the edge off. At just over 2-thou on the odometer, it's doing well...glitches thus far are limited to a rear passenger door panel that's not attached properly and a popped seam on the DS quarter panel. TSBs are few but important: Steering main input shaft and foglight wiring harness (incorrect gauge of wire from the factory, leading to premature foglight burnout).
Still a solid piece o' rolling stock, tho...

I miss the idea of the car, but not the car itself. I drove mine for 3 years, and quite frankly, it was the most unreliable car I've ever owned. By the time I hit 54,000 miles, I was left broke down and stranded on three occasions. And as for the other times in the shop? Geez, I've got a stack of paperwork over an inch thick. Axle failures, transmission failures, pinion seal failure, hood latch failure, front links, stalling... you name it! All on a 3 year old car.
Oh, and then there's the paint!
I'd get up in the morning and look at my other car (a 1990 Mazda Protege), and it made me sick to see that its paint was in better shape, given its age and normal wear and tear, than a car 13 years its junior.
What sealed it, though, was the fact that I couldn't trust my Marauder to get me from "point A to point B".
In January, it became likely that I'd be getting the new position that I'm now enjoying, so I stood back and asked myself an honest question. "Do I trust this car to make a 1300 mile drive".
I took it in and traded it that day.

Thanks and salutations to all of those who relinquished control of their Marauders for dudes like me. I got my '03 in January and the story is similar to a lot of folks (prev. owner BABIED this thing...but then babies came and the 'Rauder went). There is always an afterlife...
Smoke's got a new home and she's a keeeeeper!!!!
"Wish I Hadn't Sold It" is gonna be the bane of any car lovers existence...my dad can say that about his '68 Mustang (289 ci with the GT package) after I came along...plus I really loved my mom's '88 Cougar XR7 (hot red plus I wuz in high school so Mom was the ****nit...I'd grab that thing on the premise of buying a box of cereal if she'd let me!).
That's why I have kept my first car, a 1983 Mercury Capri L (3.8L but forever gonna be my 5.0!). Dunno what the future holds, but I'm sure it will meet the wrath of my mid-life crisis and we'll cruise again.:D

I bought one of the first 2003 Marauders from Stu Evans LM in Garden City, Mich. I babied that car for 2 years, but had to trade it in due to financial problems. Two weeks after I traded it in a couple of gangsta's stole it from the dealer and it was never heard from again... It had 16,000 miles on it and I never had a single problem with it. There isn't a day goes by that I don't miss my Marauder. Every one I see on the road, I get a hurtin' in my bones. I will buy another as soon as I am able, so I will be able to feel that wonderful rumble that I miss every day...

I don't miss her paint (08/02).
I miss her rumble and space.
I don't miss worrying about where to park.
I miss the way she used to make me want to drive the long way home.
I don't miss the endless washing and cleaning.
I miss painting things red. I like red.
I don't miss frisking passengers for seat marking/tearing objects in pockets.
I miss chasing down other Marauder drivers.
On a clear Texas night with the top down, I know I made the right call for me. This roadster is growing on me.
