Well after seeing some marauder train horn videos, i decided to look into it. I went to www.hornblasters.com and ended up purchasing the conductors special!! I paid about $580 and it came with 4 horns, 150 psi 3 gallon tank and compressor.
The beauty of this is that it make the marauder sound mean when you hit the horn, people notice and get out of the way. Instead of the wimpy horn it comes with.
Heres a link with a friend hearing it for the first time, he though he was just hearing the new reinhart exhaust!!

Good luck with that. It's illegal to use in your home town. Check pages 21-24 of this:
http://www.new-britain.net/PDF/NB_ORDINANCES16.PDF
Took me about 30 seconds to find that.
Flame away folks. Anyone who thinks it's OK to blast these things at unsuspecting people is asking for it.

That horn wasnt much louder then a air horn on a Tractor trailer.

I get about an 8 to 10 second blast before its noticible. Then the compressor refills. If you go with a bigger tank, you get more blast.
Remember, its running at @ 150psi at 152db!!!

Wrongo - look at the decibel measurements.
Besides, it's an *emergency* item. Not a "I'm pissed at the guy who cut me off" or "look at my new toy" item.
And yes, sounding horns for no reason also violates noise ordinances, at least around here.
Besides, what the hell does it matter what *I* think? It's illegal.

A cool idea with the horn, and illegal or not I hardly believe you are going to get pulled over for your horn being a little too loud. Sure, it might make some mad but that isn't your problem. On a side note that night vision camera is some kind of cool. It seems to have good quality on the screen, but I'm wondering why it doesn't have parts of the shield on your screen. Also why do you need a night vision camera, if you don't mind telling me.

I don't have the Horn blasters but I do have air horns installed in my car and they work better than those POS the car comes with. I use it alot for the inconsiderate bastards that navigate the streets of DC.

Now, that I have reread my inital post, I guess it would have helped for me to point out that I didn't see him being pulled over on the highway for his horn, not just in general. I'm sure in a large, suburban neighorbood problems could easily arise. I understand what you are talking about, by believing if I barely break the law the police will let it slide. Those that think they can barely break the law and believe nothing will happen to them are arrogant people who think they are above the law to an extent. Hopefully I don't come off to you as your typical dumb 16 year old kid.
By the way I didn't want to hijack this thread but I felt I needed to adress Mr. Troll.
P.S. My windows are tinted to the Kentucky legal limit, so I won't be pulled over for that. ;)

As far as illegal goes....I think I can vouch 4 ultravorx that it's nothing more than pushing the limits of a little fun and technical savvy...it's not so much the horn as much as it's the finger ont he trigger...
And he's got BOTH horns wired up and I'm sure the right one gets kicked off at the right time....
Nothing more than a louder exhaust...and I've had to answer to this particular 'Rauders reputation more than once (small world...small state) and all were smiles when encountering the one with the HORN...:D

the range is a bit reduced with the cover over the lens, but it protects the lens from rocks. in a previous car i had the same system and a rock cracked the lens.
the reason is two fold for me having it
1) to see cops parked/staged on the side of the road
2) to see deer and other wild life on the side of the road, living in ct you see dead deers, bears and other "car totaling" animals.
plus its kinda cool to see the reaction when people hear you have night vision!!

Uh, they can:
1) Just give a warning (best of situations if you're stopped for it)
2) Give a simple fine of $50 in this case 1st offense, $99 each subsequent.
3) Insist that the owner bring the car in for inspection that the offending items have been removed from the car (a "fix it" ticket like they do for window tinting)
4) Remove/confiscate/disconnect it on the spot themselves.
5) and yes, they certainly *can* impound a car that has illegal equipment on it, especially if they witness the use of said equipment. In the case of the horns, it can be termed assault. Of course, that depends upon where you are and how much the LEOs think they can get away with/their attitude at the time.
Look up what 152 dB does to a human at close range. That's a weapon if I ever heard of one. (I've read the overall effect is overstated by the horn companies and it probably doesn't exceed 130-140 if a few feet away, but research what 140 dB does to a human)
I'll save you the time:
http://www.makeitlouder.com/Decibel%20Level%20Chart.txt
It's been proven that any exposure to such a sound can cause permanent hearing damage. (not "will" but "can" but hey, a gun "can" kill you)
I'm all for fun, but when it comes to hurting people, *especially* when it's done with people standing around saying "it doesn't hurt anyone, and it's all in fun, so quit pissing on our parade," I speak up.
Even if you NEVER get caught, it's a bad idea. Sorry guys, but the truth hurts.

Older crowd knocking people for having "fun" ? I wouldn't have done that when I was 12, much less than in my 20's, because my idea of "fun" isn't causing other people discomfort. Why is it that some people think it's "fun" to screw with someone else?
And man, if one of these guys ever causes an accident, I hope that they'll be as understanding with the judge, because, you know, he's just having "fun" when he rakes your wallet over the coals.
Would it be "fun" if someone followed you around and did it to you? Heck, I'd bet you guys would be the first ones complaining that you were being harassed. Hey, I've got an idea! If it's so "fun", why don't you do it to yourself?
Yeah, I thought so.

Y'all are making a point where there is no point to make.
The chief reason something becomes regulated by law, it that somewhere else in time, someone else went too far, and what ever the topic may be, at some point it became necessary to regulate it. Be it boom boxes, mufflers, horns, bells whistles, tint, pot, booze, porn...what ever.
What -A points out is true in many many jurisdictions, and I think he's been a good neighbor to remind us that depending on where you are standing in America, the penalties could be stiff rather than let an unsuspecting owner suffer from what he did not know. They are equally stiff here in Illinois, particularly in Chicago, wher you will loose your vehicle until you post a stiff "bond". Here, the automobile is charged with the offense of "too dark, too loud, too unsafe", and you defend the car, or it's gone.
I can't tell you how many time I've heard the excuse "I didn't know", and is it not the the task of any elder in any community, to raise the young to know...And, know better.
Why is it, that throwing in .02C of common sense, or, caution, has somehow become a bad thing? Y'all are free to name your poison in life, but lighten up on dutroll, K?

As for the horns, i do follow 3 rules for blowing it for fun:
1) No senior citizens
2) No motorcyclist (cant have them fall off while riding you know)
3) No small children (Their ears are "still growing")
No everyone else is fair game for fun.
On the road, if someone cuts me off, they get the horn, young and old, but i still stick to rule #2. Its too easy for them to get hurt and/or fall from the blast.
See, i play it safe!

If you can't tell the difference between intentionally targeting someone (which is assault, by the way) and a broken muffler, either you're deliberately being stupid, or you are stupid. Take your pick. And yes, in most places, cars with broken mufflers are issued citations.
Better not go to the drag strip troll It'll be alot louder there.
Last time I checked, a dragstrip isn't a public road.
If you can't tell the difference between a dragstrip and public roads... see above.

The videos I have seen posted are exactly what you just said - scaring people who are just minding their own business. Then a bunch of sheep chime in and say "Dude, that is SO COOL!"
Apparently you DO need to be reminded that blasting a horn at someone who cut you off is woefully immature. Of course I have done it too - doesn't change the fact that it's pretty damn childlike.
Now, installing a bigger horn just for that purpose, especially when illegal? Borderline insanity.
Go ahead and defend this all you like. You haven't a leg to stand on, and saying that "other people are doing it and think it's cool" just makes you that much dumber in the eyes of those who live in what we call civilized society.
You actually think scaring an old lady is funny? Get some help, already!

I can't believe I have read this entire thread? Mostly it has gotten me wondering when I last blew the horn of one of our cars. I guess it was when we waved goodbye to my mother a year ago this past May. I suspect that we have driven collectively over 20 K miles since then. I guess that the horn on the Marauder works but don't know for sure as I push the interior lock button on exit of the car. Perhaps I might blow the horn more if we were fortunate enough to see my mother more often. I bet she would love the train horns. My dad worked for the Boston and Maine railroad when he was young and they were first married 70 years ago. We now live on the west coast of Florida and hear train horns every day, several times. At least I think that they are trains. I hear one now. Never thought it might be a car. Dennis:beer:

Granted, I am a decrepit old fart, but I don't see the humor in this device. I don't think throwing beer bottles at bike riders, setting animals on fire, screaming obscene things to pedestrians, bashing mailboxes with baseball bats, all the usual juvenile types of hilarity are actually funny. Antisocial horse *****, definitely.
Any device no matter what it is that can produce 152 decibels of sound can and will cause pain and discomfort. It could have serious consequences (trigger heart attacks or other stress related medical conditions, cause panic attacks, you name it) not to mention humiliate the victum.
I can only hope that one day such a horn blast will occur at the right place and time, such that the cop who spilled his coffee in his crotch decides to enforce nuisance laws, or the big dude you just pissed off decides to test his tire iron on your windshield. Then see how funny it is.

Hmmm do threads on this site go south often? I think people need to lighten up a bit. I have even been blasted for posting details about my car being stolen. If the guy puts loud horns on his car he accepts the responsibility for it too. Not us.
I most likely would be considered and old fart too. I am 41. A loud horn comes in handy sometimes and if you are going loud then go all the way. I would probably run a separate switch instead of the steering wheel. I think that is better than the finger or road rage in my humble opinion.

Interesting Idea, but everytime I see a video of a vehicle with those horns, its always randomly blowing it at people on the street. And the reactions are as expected, some laugh, some jump, and some get pissed off.
That horn is no different then the sirens the FD,PD and ambulances have equipped where they always keep their finger on the siren whose cry is the loudest. I've gotten sick of these emergency vehicles leaning on that one siren, I'd get to be the same with the horn. The funny nostalgia of it will wear off in a weeks time. But, enjoy that week, I know I would.

Was a time here, Jason, when you garnered a lot of respect from a lot of members, for you maturity and sense of responsibility at such an early age.
Who said I was even talking about you? :geezer: :geezer: :geezer:
If you're like this at 35, I feel sorry for the nurses that have to put up with you when you are pooping your pants at the old folks home. Things change, eh?

Agreed. Save it for icanthelpbutbeajerk.com
All this bull.... over a horn.
It ain't about the horn itself and you know it. It's about what the horn is used for, and so far none of the "champions of the horn" have given a reason even slightly different than using it to be an *********. If the guy had posted it and said it was for use in shows or parades, no one would have said a word. Matter of fact, I would have complimented him on it.
Some other people think they have a right to be *********s. Well, *********s sometimes get treated like *********s. Then they :bigcry: about being treated like *********s.

Have you been to a parade???? Tons of Children and Elderly People Attended these Parades here in NYC every year. Are you say that blasting a 152 decible device into such a large and Diverse crowd would be the proper use of the horn???
You just Destroyed your entire argument saying you would compliment this action.

What part of "unexpected" don't you understand?
Going to a parade, one expects loud noises and is prepared for it. People will hear them coming several BLOCKS away and be able to leave/plug their ears if they don't like it. And they will be farther away from the noise if they are like any parade I have seen, versus some moron pulling up in a car and blasting them from behind only a couple feet away.
People have a CHOICE at a parade.
This is about when it's forced upon them suddenly.
I am a band director. I've seen my fair share of parades.

There are still quite a few members I respect in return, but generally I've lost a lot of care and intrest in the matter. I could explain, but no one cares, and this isn't the thread for such thought out responses.

I hink this has gotton totally out of hand!!!
I posted stating the horn is to replace the wimpy stock horns. Yes i do have the occasional scare to kids hanging out in parking lots on cruise nights, but they all love it!!!
On the highway, it has come in handy dozens of times, especially when a tractor trailer starts merging into my lane. Its a possibility without the horn i would have been in an accident!!!
I still have my original horn hooked up, the train horn is hooked up to a secondary switch which cannot be acidently pressed.
I think from now on, when ever i see a marauder i'll give the official horn toot, if you like it enjoy! If not call the cops and see what they would do, i dont really care anymore at this point, if you guys get so riled up about a horn, imagine those people who carry uns on them and drive in the marauder, heaven forbid that!!

Awsome, nothin wrong with some 6 foot flames. Thats HOT!!! Agreed, there's always time to just having fun. MM&FF has some pics of the flames, but I want ask you something?
Imagine a car set up like this visiting a local track and getting into a real serious CRUZTAKER like burnout, then flipping the flame switch. Do you think unexpecting track officials would give him a pat on the back, or, show him to the gates?
I think the surprise of it all would (excuse my pun) backfire on the driver, and this is the underlying, yet chief point here...The surprize of it all.
My only point, was that there are penalties for abuse, and some are very stiff. I would imagine that the six foot flames in bumper to bumper traffic would result in some LEO Q&A, no matter how funny it would be to some, to melt some ricer air dams...

I agree with ya serg. there is a time and place for everything. If saw a car do it on the line I would be like HOLY-_-_-_-_! but I know exactly where your comin from. also if its a serious cruztaker style burnout I dont think you would even see the flames! LOL!

Just for the record that horn is AWESOME in person. Yea, that was me getting blasted in the video and I gotta say, it's a great accessory. Yea it's loud, but it works when required on the highways. You think a tractor trailer will hear your OEM horn when he is half asleep and cutting you off without knowing? Some of ya'll with your granny panties need to lighten up.
