Just tried to call a L/M dealer in Michigan and the recording says they are only open Monday thru Friday.

Is there some kind of law in MI that car dealers cant be open on Saturday & Sunday?

I've heard of car dealers & liquor stores being closed on Sundays in some areas of the U.S. but being closed on a Saturday? And in the Motor City no less.

Guess I'm spoiled living in SoCal where car dealers are open almost 24/7.

I don't think it is a law so much as an agreement among the Detroit area dealers to close weekends. There are some open on weekends and I think the further away from the Detroit area you go the more likely they will be open at least on a Saturday.

It does have an advantage when you want to look around during daylight hours without being bothered by the sales people.

Just struck me odd that of anywhere in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">U.S.</st1:place></st1:country-region> I would have never guessed <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Detroit</st1:place></st1:City> dealerships having banking hours.<o:p></o:p>

Out of curiosity what about the mom & pop corner lots. Do they do the same?<o:p></o:p>

I never really noticed but I would assume they could set their own hours unless they were part of the same dealer association as the big boys. I remember seeing articles in the paper some time ago about staying open on Saturday's. I think they tried it for awhile and then went back to their old ways. Some are open and others the parts dept is open on weekends as I've gotten dealer-only items on the weekend.

A few years ago, Key Olds (Warren) tried to say open on Saturdays and was constantly getting vandalized. It was believed that groups of sales people were behind the vandalism.

Most of the import dealers in Detroit are open on Saturdays.

Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor is open on Saturdays as well as Varsity L/M in Wixom. Varsity Ford currently has a DTR Marauder on the used car lot, and Varsity Lincoln Mercury currently shows two Marauders, one 2003(black) and one 2004(Silver Birch). I know sales people at both dearlerships if you need help.
