The new Shortblock has two knock sensors. Can they be wired/programmed to both be used?

What about turning them completely off? There has been some talk on other forums about how they could inadvertently hurt you.

They can be turned off completely if you feel confident enough that your tune is that safe. Sometimes it is necessary to turn them off with a built motor due to internal vibrations inadvertently triggering them.

If you have an '03 you have one sensor.

If you have an '04 you have two sensors.

More details on this. I never heard of this.

If you have an '04 you have two sensors. The Intech 4V engine (all Marauders, Mach Is and Aviators, both years) has provisions for two knock sensors on the block. Only the '04 Marauder got a second sensor, and the EEC to use it. Other mod motor blocks may have two also, but I think only the early ('96?) blocks came with one sensor mount.

To add a second sensor, you'll need to modify the engine harness, add some pins to the EEC connector, and get an '04 EEC. Then you'll need to have the EEC reprogrammed to adapt to other features of an older Marauder, such as no traction control, and a 4R70W tranny, and you may lose your PATS feature as well.

The '04 EEC and sensors are much more refined in handling knock as opposed to other engine vibrations, but I can't say it's all worth the effort.

IMHO, I wouldn't shut them off, but that's just me.

If Tim is tuning the car for you, just shut em off.
Im putting an iron block in my car this week and my knock sensors are getting scrapped.
