RADIO antenna sounds disconnected

First off Happy 4th of July! :cake:

Had some time today to try to figure out why my radio sounds like the antenna is disconnected. The Dealer installed CD works fine BUT not the radio. This is what I discovered and don’t understand why it was wired this way?

If I play (jiggle) with the plug going into the CD player my radio is clear! 2 questions is why would the Lincoln Mercury Dealer run the antenna wire into the plug that goes into CD player and has anyone else had this problem?

A few other Marauder owners have had a similar problem (no radio signal) and replaced the radio thinking or being told it was fried!

Had the same problem on the '04. They replaced the entire radio, and it works fine now. I believe the service guy said it's a common problem.

Common problem....the radio becomes unable to lock on a frequency and sounds like it is on a very distant station!!:argue:

I have a spare I bought from a NY member if anyone needs it.....If in warranty they will replace yours with a rebuilt unit which could take a week or so depending on availability??:confused:

I don't see the radio being bad because if jiggle with the plug going into the CD player my radio becomes clear. There is a loose wire some where in the connections of the radio. :bigcry: :lol: :censor:

No Ideas as to what could be wrong with the reception? What wire is bad? :cry:

What wire are you talking about going into the CD player??:confused:

The CD player is up top and all 4 plugs are low on the back.....3 rectangular multi-pin type plugs and the round antenna plug.......Which plug are you wiggling??:cool:

There is only one plug going into the CD player. Sorry should NOT of said antenna plug/cable. The plug is about 1” x .5” and has about 10 pins with about 8 wires in it.
