Passenger side window occasionally will stop working for a second or two and then all is well. This has been going on for a couple of years. Doesn't matter which switch is used to operate it. One time it quit for about a day and then "fixed" itself. Well, two days ago it quit. In the down position. Wouldn't fix itself. So I take the trim panel off just a few minutes ago to isolate the problem and, of course, when I hook the switches back up it works. I think it's the notorious Ford window regulators. Sound like that to other more knowledgable folks? And does anybody know how to narrow it down to regulator or motor as the problem without removing the trim panel?

I might not respond right away because I'm in the process of changing jobs and moving to a new town, but thaanks for the anticipated expertise.:bandit:

It's the motor, been there. Problems with regulator included very ugly sounds while moving...or the window slides down on its own....motor is bad.

Clunk sound = regulator. Quiet Refusal To Go Up/Down = window motor.
I learned these things on a 1997 CV - blew a couple motors and several regulators. Thank the Ford for extended warranties.
