Need some input on my factory stereo situation. I am getting some intermittent noise through the speakers that seems to be engine electrical related, a sort of buzzing, whining. It doesnt change at all with volume setting though. I can stop the noise by disconnecting the connection to the subwoofer (I think its the sub? Black box on left of spare attached to rear deck?) in the trunk. When I reconnect it it stops for a while then comes back??

Has anyone run across something like this before? And if so what was the fix?

Thanks

Sam

I get that also. I have used electrical tape to tape down all the speaker wires and it goes away for a while but it always comes back. :(

Sounds like poor ground or a ground loop ( a bad ground location ) causing alternator whine to come through your speakers. I belive their was a thread out there that also talked about having proper ground points. my 0.2cents.

After living without the subwoofer for a few weeks (disconnected) I decided to check the wiring. Seems a previous owner made an inline splice to to the LR speaker connections. When they disconnected said equipment they left the wires open (with a little tape on em). The wires must have been bouncing around and getting close enough to the amp to pick up RF noise. Spliced em up and reconnected the amp. Sounds good so far.

I'm getting the same buzzing sound outta my sub. Don't know what the problem is, don't care. I'll look for the problem when I'm good and ready.
