Well it's about time I get around to posting this. I'm quite late. I knew about this about 3 weeks ago, and about 1 week ago we took delivery. Yet I kept quiet. :) Some may have heard some inklings...but I kept pretty quiet about this.

A little while back I posted an ebay motors ad for a 1965 Mercury Park Lane Marauder. One of our members here had their '03 in the background of the pics. My dad bid on the car, and as luck would have it, he won the bidding.

Last Sunday the previous owner graciously trailered the car (after working out a deal) to their house.

It's a great car, and though I've not had the chance to drive it much, just tooling around the road near there house was great fun. Driving this '65 and then my '03 Trilogy MM back to back is really a display of where we've come.

At anyrate, we may have a new member at the next CAM meet. My dad wants to take this car out to some of the Marauder shows. We'll have to see how confident he is with the cars performance to see how far he'll take it for the next meet. We did a quick tune-up on it, but last I saw it we were still waiting on plates so no long drives yet.

Anyway, enough text! I got a chance on the 4th to get some side by side pictures. As you can see some of the pictures show the intense heat and sunlight we were having that day. :) But they came out OK. I also got a chance to test my latest drag race mod, my American flag and eagle license plate! (No more letters on the track!)

Pics were taken at my dad's house, and I find it funny how this car really dwarfs our "big" Marauders!

As for the '65, it has 56,000 original miles, the original wheels/hubcaps are in the trunk, and it appears remarkably rust-free for the vintage.

WOW,

I am really glad that someone from here purchased that Park Lane Marauder.

I spoke to my Mom about that car, and told her that I was thinking of buying her ,
her old car back, and we talked about that car in particular.
I just got back from the trip and was interested to find out if the car was purchased.

Enjoy it !

I remember seeing that listing on ebay!

I have too many cars already or I would have bought it.

I want a 68 Black Merc like the one Steve McGarrat drove on Hawaii 5-O.

Someday....

:D

What a great car. It looks straight as an arrow. Great wheels as well. What is a car like that worth? My wife asked me after I showed her the pictures and I really had no idea.

Very nice, Mike !!! :2thumbs: That '65 looks to be in great shape for a car that is over 40 years old. Previous owners must have really taken care of it. :D I look forward to meeting your Dad and seeing his Marauder at a future CAM gathering. :D

Breadfan, I looked really hard at this one.
If it wasn't for the demise of my son's TBird I would have bid on it.
It looked real solid, and as I recall your dad got a steal, pricewise.
Now just talk him into driving it down for MMIV!

Nice beauty! There is a couple of interesting styling cues there. I wonder how a little chrome trim over the front turn signals would look on the new ones.

Breadfan,

Glad it got a good home! Excellent pictures with your ride next to it, those are going into my Marauder file. I also saved the e-bay pictures so if you want them let me know. Have a great time with it!

Notice that that the "marauder badge" is on the "C" pillar of the '65.

Only on the Park Lane does this happen. Top of the line.

That is way I put the fender badges on the "C" pillar os my '03:)

Very sharp '65 looks good next to the '03.

Best of luck! Enjoy:up:
