Well it's about time I get around to posting this. I'm quite late. I knew about this about 3 weeks ago, and about 1 week ago we took delivery. Yet I kept quiet. :) Some may have heard some inklings...but I kept pretty quiet about this.
A little while back I posted an ebay motors ad for a 1965 Mercury Park Lane Marauder. One of our members here had their '03 in the background of the pics. My dad bid on the car, and as luck would have it, he won the bidding.
Last Sunday the previous owner graciously trailered the car (after working out a deal) to their house.
It's a great car, and though I've not had the chance to drive it much, just tooling around the road near there house was great fun. Driving this '65 and then my '03 Trilogy MM back to back is really a display of where we've come.
At anyrate, we may have a new member at the next CAM meet. My dad wants to take this car out to some of the Marauder shows. We'll have to see how confident he is with the cars performance to see how far he'll take it for the next meet. We did a quick tune-up on it, but last I saw it we were still waiting on plates so no long drives yet.
Anyway, enough text! I got a chance on the 4th to get some side by side pictures. As you can see some of the pictures show the intense heat and sunlight we were having that day. :) But they came out OK. I also got a chance to test my latest drag race mod, my American flag and eagle license plate! (No more letters on the track!)
Pics were taken at my dad's house, and I find it funny how this car really dwarfs our "big" Marauders!
As for the '65, it has 56,000 original miles, the original wheels/hubcaps are in the trunk, and it appears remarkably rust-free for the vintage.
