View Full Version : WOW! What a day I had...
I figured I'd share this one with you because some of you would appreciate it.
Today, I lived a "car lovers" dream. I'm friends with on of Truett Cathy's sons. For those of you who don't know Mr. Cathy, he started a restaurant chain called Chick-fil-A and has one of the finest car collections in the nation. Today my girls attended a birthday party for Mr. Cathy's granddaughter which was out at his private residence.
This is HIS garage...well one of them...
My job was to drive the kids around the property and out on the streets in these...
more cars driven today...
This is JUST for you LML...an IMMACULATE '79 Lincoln with less than 15K original miles....
No...I didn't get to Drive Jeff Bodine's '96 Winston car...maybe next time...I made a deal with the manager on a swap for a ride in the MM...
Tons more pics...but I've gloated enough...what a day!

Did ya get paid for all that work driving around a bunch of obsolete cars?
It definitly sounds like a good day for a car guy.
It was SWEET, Mike. I felt like Elvis in it. There was also an IMMACULATE 55 Bel-Air that I drove, a DeLorean and a Packard...
The Red Lincoln was VERY cool, as well.

No...it was just me and the father of the b-day girl.
I've never had an opportunity like this and it was GREAT.

I.....I......think I'm feeling faint.........all those cars! Like the 79 Lincoln. During "desperate" times had to sell a 55 Belair...I sure miss it.

Tod That collection of vintage cars sure looked great. I'am sure you had a wonderful day. John:up:
I guess I should do a little advertising since Mr. Cathy was so nice to me today...another one from the stable. A lot of the pics have either mine or someone elses children in them and I won't post those....but..."Eat Mor Chikin"!

Great pictures, what an experience. Didn't realize he had a collection that great, should have known better. You don't find a lot of those cars at Car Shows, especially the older Red Lincoln(can't tell if '54 or later).

The Red Lincoln gets my vote, those were some real classy cars, I wish I knew how to post a pic of the SunValley Lincoln from the JC Whitney show. Love them old Lincolns and Mercs.
Bill,
I'm not exactly sure of the year on the Lincoln...and Lar...I have to agree with you, the red Lincoln was my fav, as well...here's a look from the back if it helps determine the year (yes, it's a FogHorn LegHorn doll on it)...

Did you take George with ya to show him what a HEMI is?
Man... I'm jealous. That red Lincoln is sweet. That 79 looked pretty good too, even though I'm not a real big fan of the 4-doors of that era.
And WHY did you not take me with you Todd?
No...I don't talk to George. And, to be honest...Mr. Cathy is a Fordman, so there was not any MOPAR metal there...although this GMC truck was there...

just because,...
Did he notice or comment on your Marauder?
Actually Mad...it was "car pooling" to his house and I had 7 girls (don't say it....my daughters and their friends ages 8-10) and the wife in my Suburban.
BUT...they want to see the Marauder (the guy that manages the collection) so I'm headed back down in it, maybe this Saturday for a swap of additional test-drives...

Nothing so spectacular, but at a Swap Meet this past weekend there was a 1930 Pierce Arrow. At some point in it's life the rear section had been turned into a fire truck. Not a tanker.
The original Archer radiator ornament was on it. The car was in very good condition
