i am thinking about purchasing a cai or a k and n panel.
i know the k and n will be cheaper ,but will i see a difference
at all or is the cai the way to go even though it will be more costly.? will i have to have my tune adjusted or is either one
plug and play so to speak...........i m sure there are threads on this but i would like to get input from time and miles experience from everyone.
thanks in advance.........keith

keith, save your money and get a CAI from one of the vendors here...I have the PHP from Dennis, but others have had good luck with the other CAIs offered here as well.

Don't waste your money on a K&N drop-in panel filter...it has been proven to offer ZERO performance increase, and let more dust and dirt through.

I just installed a JLT cai/rai well worth the money, about $160 for the whole assembly shipped to your door.

To get the most out of a CAI, your tune would need to be tweeked. However, it will work fine without tweeking.

JLT is by far the best bang for the buck.

IMHO...If I were in the market for an induction kit, my choice would be the K&N kit, or, a PHP kit with Metco bellows from Reinhart. A post install dyno tune tweak of the SCT programming would be productive, but expensive for this mod alone. I would wait until I have other tunable mods in place that would benefit from tweaking the tune.

I got the JLT recently and have enjoyed every minute of it....I firmly believe there is a difference in the seat of the pants feel. I recently changed back to the stock airbox for a dealership check up but cant wait to put the JLT back in. Very easy to install as well. Took me about 20 minutes. It even Looks great. JMHO.

I'm interested in this.

I have the SCT tuner & 4.10 gears from Dennis.
So I don't have to send the tuner back to Dennis to reprogram it ??????
Is that what is meant by "treaking the tune" ?

And I can expect a noticeable gain by just the 20 minute installation ???????

All this time I thought the previous threads stated that there was no gain using the K&N. That was obviously for just the drop in filter.

Dont quote me on this but I believe JLT advertises 10-18 hp gain with his CAI/RAI. Its on his page and shows charts with his compared to K&N. I dont think your supposed to notice the added power.....But I believe that I do.

There was a slight seat of the pants improvement with K&N drop in. However, bypass the drop in, put the $50 towards a CAI.

No. You don't have to send it back. Wait 'till you have more mods to make a re-tune worth while. I have DR's base tune as well.

Yes, you can expect a noticable gain from under 200 bucks and 20 minutes.

K&N FIPK and JLTCAI/RAI give about the same performance. PHP w/metco pipe is prolly a little better, but bank for the buck JLT is definately the best VALUE.

i was leaning toward jlt . i am going to get it but i will wait untill warranty is up in 6k miles and or dec 26 th. i dont want the hassle swapping it back and forth for dealer trips, one of which i have on sat to put new front rubber on and try to find suspension
noise. ordered pro guard yesterday so that will be my fix for a while!!!!!!!!!

IMHO I think the K&N Air Charger for the Marauder is the best all
around....very professional looking and easy to install.
No need to get a new tune.

I just purchased the K&N on ebay @ $237.00 includes shipping.

I was going to buy the JTL until I read in the descript on their site that it may rub under the hood.

That caused me to do a search here & I found this:

Great site, Thanx for the help.

On two of the Two Marauders I have seen with the K & N, It also rubs. and not only did it rub on both of the liners it rubbed much worse than that of the JLT. Both of these Marauders I have seen were at 2 different local dealerships. The rub with My JLT is very minimal and barely noticable. Just stating my observation.

Agreed. The JLT 'rub is about 1/2" x 1-1/4". Minimal and hardly noticable. All performance mods make some sacrifice. The slight rub is well worth it for the performance and price.
