My best friend died today...

My father passed away this morning. He went in for an "overnight" procedure two weeks ago and never came home. He had his share of health problems, but he had never been hospitalized in his life. We are all still in shock.

My Dad was the "go to" man in everyone's life he touched. His family....his friends....his neighbors...they were all touched by his willingness to do anything for them. He was them most self-less man I ever knew. I'd be greatful if I could ever amount to be a fraction of the man my Dad was.

He will be deeply missed.

Hug your parents. Hug your kids. Tell them how much you love them. Enjoy every moment.

This is the hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life and I miss my Dad. I miss my best friend.

I am very sorry for your loss. Losing your father is one of the hardest things to go through. I lost my father suddenly 3 years ago to sudden cardiac arrest. It too was unexpected. All I can say is cling to your family, they provide the best comfort you can get.

I lost my father several years ago due to a Heart Attack and not one day goes by that I dont miss him. All you can do is keep his memory alive and remenise on all the good times you both shared together. My father passed away this morning.

My father passed away in 1992. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and the strength and wisdom that he imparted to me. I can only hope that I will be able to do as much for my kids and theirs.

Thank you to everyone who posted words of support here. I wasn't sure why I felt the need to post up such terrible news here, and so quickly, but it felt like the right thing to do. I desperately wanted to boldly state my feelings for my father from the highest "mountain top" I knew. I am deeply greatful to be a part of this community and for allowing me to say what I felt inside.

Many tough days lay ahead, but everyone's words of support and stories of similar situations have been very very helpful. Thank you all.

I went thru this quite recently, I tried to be strong for my mom and brother who were having a rough time dealing. I would refuse to grieve.... when I did...alone, I found relief and a measure of peace.
