Aren't those badges on the car the wrong way?

:agree: I think that the checkered flag should be looking front.
Nice badge in any case. Got already a pair sticked to my MM.

When riding into battle, the standard bearers were always at the front, so, for lack of a better reason, the flags on the badges should also face front.
The more important question: Is the seller here? Who has a leased DTR that they're turning in? Fess up...

I am assuming these are Matt In Detroit's.
Matt is in Canton, MI...... the Seller is in Canton MI.
They are coming off of a DTR....... Matt has a DTR.

No thanks, that checkered flag throws it off for me. Looks a bit small too.Hey...Let's have a little respect here, K? Those badges were creted by MartyO and myself back in 2003. They are rare and collectable.
Inspired by the 1963 Marauder fender badging, the flag was a separate fender badgeback then, and it pointed forward to to front of the car. Yes they are smaller than the original too, but fit well on the fender when installed correctly.
Snooze, you lose.

haha, woah there, I was just voicing my opinion. I respect that they were made by you and MartyO and that they're rare and collectable. That's pretty cool.
just ain't my cup of tea, is all.

Yes they are the badges off my car. I didnt see any reason giving them to the dealer. I havent turned the car in yet, im still driving it, only for another couple weeks though. I will gladly purchase this car off lease to sell to someone if they are interested. I would have to get $22k though to cover the lease end value, taxes and all. I have seen them not as clean as mine on used lots for $25k+. Dont know if they are getting it though. If I dont get a taker, back to the dealer she goes.

I need to dust off the dies for these badges and make some more of these puppies!

lol seeig there is a demand for them, i guess it would be a good business venture. Just out of curiosity w/o disclosing how much they cost to make, are these ebay ads breaking even or superseading supplies and labor costs? Since I got my car too late for the GB, I grew fond of my checkered flag 4.6 badges.

I'll trade a gently used set of fender badges for a CAR Motorsports front grill godshead emblem.
whoskal, got a red paperclip? Get to it!
Matt In Detroit
07-15-2006, 06:42 AM
Yea they pulled off nice and straight, I sprayed a bit of wd-40 behind them to soften the glue up and they came off with little effort. I also polished and waxed them up (not like they needed it though). I doubt you could tell the difference from new ones. They held up well, they are a heavy quality badge.

Not sure what the red paperclip is all about, but i'm not giving up my emblems:cool: , even though that would be a fair trade.....I thought CARMOSPO still had some??
On a side note it looks like you have a badgeless grill?? Need a paperweight??:D

The red paperclip reference is to a guy that through a series of trades traded nothing for a house! Think big!
See http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/ for the story.

Hate to be a kill joy. But, who ever bought the MM flags got one right direction and one wrong direction. Posts were written when the badges were made that there was a specific left and right side with flags facing forward.

Jesus, guess I missed that post on how to install them. Hey, I installed them how I thought they looked good and thats that. I do have a correct LH and RH set so the new owner can install them how he/she likes, flags forward or backward. Thanks for the positive input Glenn

I mounted my badges 'backwards' also...I think that they look better that way.
It's just a matter of personal preference.
I'll probably lose some points if I ever enter my Marauder in a concourse show.;)
martyo

I attribute the speed of my car to the direction that the badges were mounted! :D
That and $238,523.67 in mods!! :D
I never put them on my car.
I used (1) on a mirror in my garage & only exposed a portion of the tape to install.
The other thought about putting on the valve cover, then decided to place it in the center of the fan shroud.
It's still there, my car has about 5,700 miles on it & always garaged.
Badges are like new & I'll provide some 3m automotive tape to install.

Ok, badges are gone. Anyone interested in the 04 DTR before I turn it in? If so you have a couple of days.
20k miles
Moonroof
DTR with light flint interior
non smoker, exceptionally clean
$22k covers my buyout, taxes, and a small profit for me.
