I have stock exhaust,
I would like to replace the stock exhaust manifoldes only
with "FORD RACING" coated shorty pt#9430-e465
will these bolt up to the stock pipes leading to the pre-cat:help:
(i understand the about the "shim" & "egr" tube ext.)
i do not want to here about x-pipe or any thing else exhaust related
i just would like to bolt these in for now & do cat's, x-pipe, muff, ect... later

The FRC shorty headers will not fit the stock X-pipe. You need the Corba X-pipe and a good muffler shop like Grand Muffler in Atlanta to do the custom fit job. See Todd. His shop did mine and I am very pleased with the results.

Thanks for the info, I was just looking to get rid of the ugly castings for now, I'll just do "KOOKS" later, does any one know the center distence
of the "KOOKS" collectors when mounted up,
I figure i can save a little $ if i used "SLP" #m31034 cat & x-pipe
& i like the SLP products, & with the need for 4" ext.
i should have plenty of room to fab up the right flange connection

That won't work either. Kooks have unique flange locations, one is angled downward more than the other. There ain't a cheap or easy way out, we've tried it. It's just a whole different ball game from Mustangs.

You can do this but the shorty headers were designed for non tumble port heads, all 99 and up 4V motors have tumble port heads, the shorties will bolt right up, but they do not match the exhaust ports on your heads, so they are restrictive as compared to a 01 Cobra or Mach 1 stock cast manifold, I was the first person here to sell the shorties with a X pipe, and after dyno testing and help From Paul, I went with the Cobra manifolds over the shorties, the other disadvantage is you have to shim the drivers side motor mount 1/4" to clear the steering shaft with the shorties.

Here is how I look at this perplexing problem...

Replacement STOCK exhaust is $1200+ installed....

For about $1600+ you can have a KOOKS exhaust installed
complete front to rear, with the headers, cats, x-pipe and mufflers,
and you've got the option to add resonator delete tips.
