:( I'd rather they extend the other warranty, seems most things that go wrong are electric or body interior or something, rather than just motor and trans

Seems overdue. The competition has been there for some time. Good for them. Shows their confidence in the work of the UAW. Dennis

quotes:

"The warranty expansion will weigh on Ford's future earnings because the automaker will have to accrue higher warranty costs, credit rating agency Standard & Poor's said."

"When we said Ford was going to look at the world through customers' eyes, we meant every word," Codina added. "That means bold design, more standard safety features, higher quality and, starting today, the best warranty and roadside assistance packages of any full-line manufacturer-- American, European or Asian."

Therefore, the "Way Forward" future is bright!

In fact, if a customer buy a 2006 Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln vehicle, They get the newer warranty from this day forth. BTW, Lincoln has a 6/75 powertrain warranty now.

THat's why I would rather a warranty on the non drivetrain stuff ;)

For myself, sometime this year or next I'm looking at buying a second car to be my daily driver (read: only lightly modded, if at all). Having this longer warranty on Ford products makes them much more appealing to me.

But let's remember that the vast majority of car buyers never mod a thing. Their primary concern? Quality. Will the car be trouble free? And if not, will it be covered by the manufacturer? This is a big step in the right direction for Ford.

again WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE CAR!!! alot of companies already have 10 years on everything, and dodge/chrystler have maint. included... This seems like applauding them for something that should be a given...

You don't need to yell to make your point. I grant you that a bumper-to-bumper warranty extension would be ideal, but failing that at least Ford is addressing the parts of the car that cost real, serious money to repair when they fail.
