It looks like they put chrome inserts in the front bumper. I'm surprised they didnt do the side mirrors too.

I doubt that it was the Dealership that did that..... It looks like the car is sitting on the Used Car lot.

Probably got it as a trade-in.

That thing screams Florhideon package(sans a roadster top).

I clicked on the free Carfax report ......

I can't believe that car wasn't sold new here in Florida.

That's one bet I would have lost.

That's a dealer installed aftermarket package, I see them around me all the time on GMs and Town Cars. Only things missing are Vogues, and the cabriolet top with marker lights (thank God).

Someone bought that car the first time, someone else will by it again...

Cash flow does not = taste.

In all fairness, the folks who would find that look appealing, would ask us "what's up with the fat 'n flat black sidewalls?"

So here is the story on this car. I went to the dealer that was selling it and took a closer look. The car is in pretty good shape (except for a bad case of chrome-itis) and so I talked a bit with them.

The original owner is a chrome freak. The chrome wasn't added by the dealer, it was added by the customer. They won't bad-mouth a customer, but I could tell what they were thinking. They said he traded it in on a Jaguar they had on the lot. I asked how much chrome he put on the Jaguar, the salesman nodded at the Marauder and said "Take a guess". "Too much"? He nodded at the MM again.

So I told the salesman that I'd buy it, but only if all that chrome was yanked. New grille installed and the bumper fixed. Oh wait, I didn't mention the bumper. That chrome wasn't glued on. It was SCREWED into the bumper. And not by finishing screws that might look nice either. He used screws that are in the cheap bin at the local hardware store. I insisted that the bumper be fixed properly when the took off the chrome. They agreed to this as well.

So I signed all the papers. Shook hands. Smiled. Played nice. They expected the only delay would be ordering a new grille. The new grille showed up on Tuesday and they went to work. They peeled off the chrome from the sides, cleaned off the glue and unscrewed the chrome from the bumper only to find a large hole in the bumper.

This guy must have been an absolute tool. First he ruins the look by slathering the beast in chrome. Then he runs into something that pokes a large hole in the bumper and instead of doing the rational thing and repairing it, he just screws some more chrome into the bumper. BRILLIANT!

So I had to wait a few more days for them to find a new bumper, paint it and install it. The waiting was over tonight. It's now parked outside and waiting for it to cool off here in KC enough for me to apply a few layers of Zaino and give it the care it deserves.

Good job at saving that Marauder! Even better that you negotiated having it put back into original condition as part of the deal.

If you see a black Marauder with a Zack chrome on black badgeless grill and SS inserts (a little cowbell) around south KC, give me a wave!

Congrats and Enjoy your new ride. Actually, I thought the front chrome on the bumper was to deter the bugs that could land on it.

Thanks all! I appreciate the support.

It looks so much better clean. There are some paint chips I'll have to touch up and I'll be getting the windows tinted on Saturday. And if the heat keeps up like this, it'll be a while before she gets some proper polish. Geez, it was over 100º and the humidity was atrocious today. Thank God for A/C.

I don't know if I can make it down to MMIV, but we'll see. But if I do, I will be taking up everyone on their offer of beer. Beer good.

I don't have any before pics other than what the dealer had taken. That should be more than enough of that. Once I get a layer or 12 of Zaino on it, I will have pictures a'plenty to share with the board.
