Ok, I am a member on a Impala SS forum and I read post on other Impala SS forums as well. Anyway. I guess the "Great Lakes Dragway" event seems to bring out all the trash talkers. Idon't know about you guys, but this whole thing sounds like a bunch of Impala SS are threatend by the mere though of a Marauder, so instead of being an ethusias they trash talk in attempt to make themselves "look cool".

The SS guys that've been over here are some pretty decent people for the most part and have been welcome. What some other people do at an SS site really should be no concern to us as long as it stays there and not here.

it simplys amounts to the fact there is no other board out there other than our sister board (the Cougar forum) That shows the class we have here!! and yes the larger percent of the SS guys are pretty cool.

"Every man I meet is my superior in some way. In that, I learn from him." - Emerson
I am here to help and learn. Perhaps I can pick up an idea and apply it to my car. You guys have been gracious in accepting me into the forum and I appreciate that.
No sense in badmouthing, we're all trying to do the same thing. I ignore haters, regardless of what they drive. The SS guys doing that are probably young and their enthusiasm needs to be constructive rather than destructive.

PLEEZE!!!!Not This again ! I thought we finished this thread witha SS / MM Love In ?
I must say that we MM owners are gicving up 70 cubic inches, and have more emission control than the now all but worn out SS Impalas that are still left on the road. Hey...any time you getting more HP than you have CI fron a stock engine, you got something going , and that we have with out lil 281 hi revvin all aluminum engines. I knew that some changes would need to be made for my MM before I bought it. I have yet to get my upgraded Rienhart parts, but with the 4:10's and a chip, plug, and a few other changes; the MM can make u for the 70 CI that any 350 Chevy has. Try to find a SS Impala with 8K on it, like my MM..............
Both SS and MM drivers have more in common than differences. We both like big rear wheeel drive cars with a V8 that faces the correct ( sic) direction, and we like the weight of a big car and the advantagea that a large 4 door sedan has. Yes there are draw backs, but what is perfect ? Nothing that I know of.
Hope to meet the DFW guys soon !!

I love the Impala SS and IMO no Impala SS in 94-96 no MM now...I mean for pete sake they compare it against the SS on the Mercury website.....Mercury obviously researched the shortcomings of the SS and improved on them....
I have a good friend with 2 SS's. One for every day driving and one for show.....
To me when I see such animosity it is usually a Ford vs. Chevy thing.......Some people live and die by the bowtie....others dig the oval.....
Large sedan performance drivers when no matter what with having both the SS and MM.
But it is like anything else...there are A**holes everywhere...and you just have to ignore them....

Exactly. After reading the "hater" posts there, I'm convinced that most are 16 to 19, and own Caprices, not Impalas.

I gotta tell ya, I love the SS, always have. was looking for the perfect 96 when the MM appeared. I have been stopped by SS owners for a look and they have all been car guy's and have liked the MM. When comes to the stop light grandprix, all bets are off! it's first across the intersection with braggin rights, at least for that day. I seen an Impala wagon done up like an SS and it was just way too cool. The only thing I have against those SS guy's is their so damn spoiled! with all that great after market stuff available to choose from. Rock on guy's.

I know a lot of the Impala SS guys are cool. My venting was aimed at the retarded ones who down play others in atempt to "look cool" -as I said earlier.
I also would like to own a Impala SS when funds permit.

I parked my Marauder next to a black Impalla SS in the parking lot today. Boy if that wasn't a pretty sight. :D I waited around a bit in hopes the owner would return so we could talk about our cars, but no such luck.

Just a thought...not to be too confrontational...but it would be sweet to have a Grand Marquis....gold metallic with the like leather type back roof......a real AARP special (no offense to anyone) but put a 400+HP engine under the hood....put some decent tires...but keep hubcaps etc....just make a real "Sleeper Reaper"
The kind of car that you pull up next to someone...."Hey I don't even know if this car is a V8"....and then it's see you at the finish line.....would work great here in Florida.... :D

Likewise. I have done the same with the MM. I stopped a very nice lady who was driving her Marauder thru Wendy's one day in a small suburb of Chicago and asked her how she liked it. The smile on her face was enough.
We all share a common love. The BBB. :coolman:
