Did anyone else get a MM with a hood ornament? I hate this one on my car. It would be OK with me if it was a gods head, but when I repaint the car this thing is GONE!

It is a bone stock 300A. First thing I need to get is some window tint. From there the world...........
Sorry for the huge size of the pic. I need to get photoshop back on the computer.

Thats Absolutely hysterical. I cant think of any other car that has that hood ornament so I guess someone took the time and effort to create one and deface your Marauder.
Nice Marauder, Bad Hood ornament.

To really get rid of it, you could replace the header panel that has the hole. When everthing is all said and done, hook the ornament to a chain for your own "bling" accessory.

IMMEDIATELY do the following:
1: Remove hideous hood ornament from poor Marauder
2: Attach strong chain to hood ornament
3: Find who installed said hood ornament
4: Whip said person WITH said hood ornament until they realize their AWFUL mistake!

I guess I am the only other MM with a hood ornament---in fact I have 3 different ones--haven't had any derogatory remarks--that ornament was on some 2005 GMs if I am not mistaken--wasn't very popular and was discontinued--I also think it STINKS--who do they have for designers:confused: All of mine have the God's Head logo.It is too late at nite for me to start editing pics for upload--will do tomorrow. As stated, I'm an old P-51 Mustang pilot and don't go anywhere without a gunsight;) . Come to MV 4 and see for yourself. Maury

It would look a lot better if you added the super special chrome package that a few cars on ebay are sporting. The neon curb feelers would add some more class to the package as well.:)
Other than that you have a beautiful Marauder.

You definantely have a one of a kind.
I believe that even the King of Bling Himself, Sir Hotrauder would be clasping his hands over his mouth while running to the porcelin altar. Lucky for him he won't need anyone to hold his hair back....:D

Judging by where it is on the header panel, it's prolly bolted through from the bottom. That area is very easy to get to by removing the three pins from the plastic cowling over the radiator and removing the cowling.
I agree that you and others would be less put off by the hole which can't be very large.
Further, I'd be willing to bet you could find a 'christmas tree' pin in the HELP section of your local autoparts store to fill the hole and just be left with a small black 'cover' where the hole used to be.
A better suggestion might be to get the bolt cover for the valve covers from COLEX and put one of those over the hole. I'm sure Daniel would have something you could cover it with. Look Here: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=26911&highlight=secret
I personally think that would be far better in the interim until you can get her to paint. Maybe even keep what you get from Daniel.
Welcome and good luck with that hideous thing.

In order to reach some coherence, you have the choice between making you car repainted in light gold metallic and installing the chrome pillar and fender trims or, alternatively, removing the thing.
JP
PS
And I would be glad to buy that thing (provided you decide to remove it) so I can install it, not on my black MM, but on my LSE 2003 Grand Marquis onto which I installed the chrome trims. In the name of coherence...!

I like this idea alot. I would need something to act as a base for the bolt hole cover. There is a slight curve, and I would want the cover to look flat on the header panel. I may have to keep the nastey thing on the car. I did not expect this much interest to be generated by it. (or hate as the case may be)

That hole makes me sad. I wouldn't just try to cover it up. Find a reputable body shop and have the hole patched and painted before it starts to rust.

The colex bolt hole cover should fit perfect. Daniel also has some 'medallions' that are about 1-3/4 round. They are one-off's cuz he's been experimenting. I got 2 and put em on my sail panels. Ayways, the go on with 2 sided foam tape. Get the good gray 3m tape from the APS. That stuff will also take up the slight curve. Use 2 layers of tape if you must to take up the curve. Give Daniel a call. You won't be in for much $. He's a cool guy and will help you out.
Good luck, bro.

Read the first post. Looking for inexpensive tasteful temp fix until full repaint can be afforded....
Plus, you could use the medallion elsewhere in the future....
