I have been reading over the boards, and I have had a few beers. I have now become super human intelligent. (thanks to the beer)... yet I am still left wondering....

Will my MM go faster now that the hood ornament is gone? or will the gapping hole in the cowel just whistle at you as I go by? I am still pondering my options on that one.

Did anyone else have that crappy fake chrome rope in the groove around the bumpers and door guards? I have yet to see a MM with this junk on it. (well other then the ones on ebay that is) I promptly pulled off the offending embellishment, and tossed it in the trash.

How do "tuners" work? I am currnetly considering one, but how is it used? I know it is a hand held unit, with or without an extra chip, but how hard is it to prorgam? Is it a one step process to upload the needed program? Does the stock program reamain resident some where? How is it restored if you dont like the tune? Do I need a lap top for it or is it all done thru the hand held unit? oh well so much for being edjimakated. Have a good knight imma go pass out now.

it's only 8:30pm. You can't pass out yet!

Actually, I'm curious about custom tuning as well. I haven't had a chance to fully explore the technicalities of tuning yet.

Good for at least a 0.1 drop on your 1/4 mile ET. Much less turbulence.

The Hood ornament put 10HP to the hood so you may actually lose some power now.

As for the tuning, Its simple, Plug the tuner into your OBDII port, the tuner will come alive, follow the instructions of the tuner, then turn the key onto the run position to start the upload, when complete turn the key off and unplug the tuner, its that simple.

Make sure you are sober for the test drive!!

How often do you need to tune your car? Is it a one time only deal or do you have to do it every couple of months?

One time deal and your stock tune is stored in the tuner in case you have to bring your car to the dealer.
Returning to stock is the only time you will have to touch your tuner unless you have the vendor tweak your tune

Usually once is enough but at MM.Net we seem to be making power upgrade Mods about every 2 months so you might be right on the money, every 2 months. Dennis

Your drag coefficient has been lowered by .00000000000000001.

Quick question on the tune. Is it worth the extra money to have someone tweak the tune or is the basic tune that comes with the tuner good enough?

Quick question on the tune. Is it worth the extra money to have someone tweak the tune or is the basic tune that comes with the tuner good enough?Tweaking your tune is the best possible outcome of any tune for any car.

Storytime....A while back, one of our more popular members here, arranged to have his front end aligned with him stationed behind the wheel. I do not know if this meant anything to the alignment, or, the rest of us here, but it was a very interesting topic to explore. He's not a "fat" guy, but he's not "average" either. I thought it made sense.

He was looking for the "perfect" front end alignment, and since he did most of his performance driving with just himself inside the car and behind the wheel, his thinking was that "perfect" hinged on his body weight being present for the best possible alignment. Today, I still agree.

The point is that all things Marauder can improve with personal tailoring to your specific Marauder. Whether it's a tune/tuner package, a short block rebuild with forged internals, or just a front-end alignment, if you want the best possible, work with real world facts.

The "off-the-shelf" Marauder tune is good stuff, whether SCT, or, Diablo. But, it is very much like buying a new suit off-the-rack. Basically a nice fit, with decent tailoring, fit and finish, if you are a "standard" size in America. Very often, the jacket fits, but the slacks do not fit as well, and vice-versa too. End result is that you look good in a new suit, with other accessories (shirt and tie) in place. But, it's not eactly "you".

Having a professional tailor go over everything you just bought with you in those clothes, well...You'll not only just look good to everyone else, you'll feel great inside that new suit, shirt and tie. It wil be you "favorite" suit, jeans, tee shirt, what ever. It just fit you perfectly, and that's one great feeling.

Your "power suit" has everything to do with your personal self-confidence. Confident in you clothes, is confidence in yourself.

Any chance for anyone to get their tune tweaked to fit their own personal Marauder, is always the best choice to make.

Just my .02C, carry on gents.

I agree with Mac. I love the "off the rack" Reinhart tune, but I do have plans to travel to his shop for other work and will want DR to dyno tune Blue Thunder while I have my wallet open. :)

Honestly, I expected a couple "It's good" or an arguement for "waste of $$" or something. I never expected such an eloquent response, Mac. You convinced me. So in a few weeks, after the MM is out of the body shop (there was more wrong with the body than the slathering of chrome, but nothing $600 can't fix), I'm going to take her to a local speed shop and get a tailored chip done.

With Mac....thats what you get ..........and we all have come to expect it.........at least me......IMHO ..........he has been a great source of 411 regarding alot of MM subjects.... .......and a great friend.......he is straight up---something not available locally ......in most of our neighboorhoods.......thats why we have each other here.........and I won't hesitate to ask ....even with a built engine.....there is always something new to learn...and I try to every day .............remembering it is the biggest problem....

Thanks for the kind thoughts gents, I appreciate it. But, it's the way I learned to be from being here myself.

Every question I answer (or try to answer correctly) was once a brain teaser of my own doing and my thirst for knowledge. All of what I have learned about the Marauder, has been inspired by, or, came from y'all.

This here MM.Net is like a water hole in a desert. There's plenty of water for everyone, and a pump to keep it flowing. You're welcome to drink all you want, but please leave the pump primed for the next thirsty soul?

All I'm doing, is priming the pump the best that I can. It's as much fun to help, as it is to be helped.
