Typical service dept. bullcrap.
Why they can't understand that a simple phone call, even if it's just to say, "Hey I wanted to call and let you know it isn't finished yet, but we're doing everything we can", is paramount to maintaining a healthy relationship with a customer, I'll never know...
Idiots.

About 5 years ago I worked about 6 months for a local limo guy. He had 9 Towncars and 2 long ones. All 9 Towncars were bought and serviced at the same place I bought my MM. I just spoke with him a week ago and he said the service is second to none at the dealership?? Yet I take my MM to the Ford dealer across town for a better grade of service. Mercury dealers just do not understand the Marauder:fire:

Maybe they're lookin for a way to deny the claim, or waiting for parts, or mechanic is overworked, or their phone bill is too high to be polite enough to call you, whatever it is, it isn't very nice to do to a customer that paid as much as you did for a product and then get crappy sevice.

Dealer selection is just as important as product selection...

I made an app't to bring my MM in for warranty work... (adj the parking brake, adjust the shift linkage, replace the foggy headlight lens and moulding. Not going to the dealer where the MM was purchased because it's inconvenient and service area is too small. This dealer is the Same dealer that services the mark VIII and the same dealer where I purchased the Focus. When I said I was bringing in the MM, the service manager said "what's that".........
Nevertheless, the service dep't is top notch

It was said many times before that most dealers and technicians know very little about the Marauder and seem to care less. John

i guess maybe i should switch to a local ford dealer, because this dealership is 40 miles away !.. hrm.. well.. yea they ordered the wrong part i found out.. this is the second time.. the car was supposed to be done 2 weeks ago. Law says if the car is in the shop 28 days they legally have to buy it back.. so worse comes to worse theyre buying it.. i dont want that car anymore .. ill just get a new 2k4 same car but newmaybe a 350z haha JK

No, I hope you keep her!!!!!!
Hey Amerikan, sorry you are having a bad time with your dealership. All dealerships are very nice at first, HELL their trying to make money!!!!! Cant blame them for that. But any good business, and i have owned one a few years back and service after the sale is the KEY!!!!!!! My dealership isnt perfect, They make mistakes and I can be a little flexible! But not that long!!!
If you cant service what you sell, then I dont buy!!!!!!!
I hope prob is resolved soon!!!!!!!

My MM went in to the LM dealer last Friday to install the 4.10 gears. They ordered a 4.10 gear set for a 9.75" rearend instead of 8.8. Monday after hearing nothing I drove in around 1:00PM to check status. The Service manager and parts manager told me Ford does not make a 4.10 gear set for an 8.8 rear end. After telling them it comes from Ford Motorsports they checked availability and the parts are 4 weeks out. The Marauder was taken apart last Friday prior to realizing they had the wrong parts. The good news is they are paying for my rental and they ordered a set of Richmond 4.10 gears and the car should be finished tomorrow. I also will continue my future business regarding the MM with my old Ford dealer. The Mercury dealership just seems a little sleepy.

PLEASE don't tease me anymore with dealers that are NOWHERE NEAR ME that will do the gears...this just sucks...Ford makes and sells the damn gears for the same damn rear-end, but my dealer won't put them in my car BECAUSE IT DIDN'T COME WITH THEM!!!

Sarge - Like you said it's all about $. Come in for scheduled maintenance and you can wait for your car. Come in for warranty work you have to leave it and wait. IMHO. John:(

If you had called Dennis, the correct gear set would have been in your hands in 72 hours, for 180 bucks. Can't wait to hear what the Richmonds will run, after dealer markup. But, to each his own...

I have been quoted 250.00 for the Richmonds and they come with the carrier and pinion bearrings. The reason I had LM do the gears is because I wanted the original chip to be flashed for the speedo change. My thinking was that when I get my chip from Dennis I could install it and when I needed Warranty work done I could switch the chip back to the original and the speedo would be true. I am learning here and this may not be the way to do it however I am commoted at this point. I think I am stealng this thread and do apologize. Your opinions are respected and encouraged Serge.

250. isn't too bad, and I know too well your point about keeping the Dealer on your side. I got my gears from Dennis because the Dealer wanted over 400. for the kit. But, I paid way too much in labor because I wanted my SM and wrench on my warranty side. It worked, and I have a good relationship going on. Just for the record, the kit Dennis provides is the FMC Motorsports kit, it also comes with bearings. Happy motoring!

Well the gears are in, no doubt there is a noteable difference. I am pleased. The dealer flashed the chip for the latest updates as of 5/14 they however were not allowed to calibrate the speedo due to California emissions, advertised mph etc, etc. I will order my chip from Dennis and that will take care of that. The grand total for gear kit, fluids, oil change , install K&N filter was 790.00 and they took care of the 6 day rental. I really could not ask for more. I ordered the trunk organizer (seems it is quite a pull to get the cases of bottled water out of the trunk for the wife) and the factory car cover. I recant past thread about switching dealers and continue to work with my LM dealer.
