What have you paid for a repaint of your MM? If so did you keep the same color?

I am looking at getting my MM repainted....To paint it black again it was $5,000 to get a pearl paint job it was $7,500..I went to a highly recomended shop that does alot of custom jobs....sure you can get a paint job for cheaper, but are you willing to trade quality?

I believe that BigDogJim's factory repaint was in the $6,300 - $6,700 range. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty. But that was over 2 years ago. There's an old thread laying around somewhere on this.

My God, where are you guys getting paint quotes from. 5000 bills...I can see 2500 for PPG and a boat load of clear but 5000....that sounds a little steep.

When it comes to paint jobs (among other things) you get what you pay for... go ahead and pay 2500 for a paint job, you can even get one at a maaco for 300, but I bet you'll be kickin yourself in the a$$ 6 months later;)
I'd rather pay for the quality through a company I know has an excellent reputation.

Dealership was paid $8200.00 from Ford to repaint the marauder.

I would think a good chunk of those e$timates are going towards the labor of tearing apart the car.
If you really want to paint a car the right way ... it involves the removing & taking apart of a lot of stuff to prep, then to refinish & paint. Then you have to put everything back together. This takes time. No cutting corners, tape this off, tape that off, get overspray on this & that, tape lines, rough edges ..... blah blah blah BS.
Time = labor.
Labor = dinero$.
Most of our cars aren't that old.
Wait till some of them get some years on them. Age & battle scars only increase the labor cost$.

Before I had my car repainted 2 years in June I went to 6 area bodyshops to get a price. 2 shops did not ever want the job due to the time and labor.
The other 4 shops printed me price quotes from $7500.00 to $11,000.00.
If done right your looking at removing all glass, door handles, trim and moulding. Very labor intense, lot of time. They had my car 5 weeks to do the job but, I was no rush.
To change color which I almost did they wanted an extra $1,000.00 to paint all the jambs, under the hood and trunk.

My car sits outside under a California Car Cover and looks great! I have almost 11 mills of paint on the car. (new is 4-6?)
I use a wax that I doubt any one here has even heard of.:P

Now just for the record that was an almost 14 month battle to get it done. L&M Dealership was paid first to fix it and made it worse.
If I had to go through this again with another car I would just drive into a brick wall and walk way. Cheaper and better on the stress levels.:help: :banned:

My car is a daily driver in the Philadelphia area. I have a few dings from the ignorant people who cannot help themselves in parking lots. I live in an apartment with no garage so Mother Nature has taken her shots, too. Sad to say, from what I am seeing, it is hard to keep my car. Just washing her pisses me off because she does not look right. Worse yet, I cannot afford to repaint her. I am thinking it is time to find someone who can give her a better home than I can. Probably if I had gone with Silver the story would be different. :mad:

My factory re-paint consisted of roof/trunk/hood/door pillars. Costed Ford a tick under 3k...
Thank god I got it in before the warranty was up.
