I've seen and advised on several towing posts. I know how to tow in general.

I have a Marauder-specific question...

Towing for the Marauder is rated at 2000 lbs.

I have seen photos of Marauders towing other cars which would total the 5000+ neighborhood.

The question is...

How heavy is your trailer? How's your Marauder do with it? How hard/easy is it to pull your boat up the ramp?

I'm considering about a 2500# rig (boat+trailer). Also considering a second (used) car/SUV for towing the boat, but wondering if I can save the cash and buy a nicer boat.

As always, your opinions and experiences are appreciated.

I occassionally would tow my small inboard skiboat (maybe 2500 lbs total) with my 04 Crown Vic Sport. The air bags make it level out perfect, and there is plenty of power and brake availible. I would think the MM would even do better with more power and gearing.

I used a 'hidden hitch' class 2 and it fits perfectly and really is hidden up there.

CV's used to be rated at 5000# but as you might guess Ford replaced a lot of transmissions and rear ends....so they lowered towing capacities to 2000# knowing we will be pulling double that!!

I had a 22 foot Stingray that I towed to South Florida with my CV twice a year for 5 or 6 years. The boat and trailer weighed in at about 4500# and the only problem I ever had was when the trailer brakes finally gave up.....had to leave plenty of stopping room!!:argue: Never had any towing issues at all....except 11 MPG!!:bows:

I have an enclosed trailer for my Cobra and I have towed it with the Marauder just to test it for Hurricane evacuations and it did fine on flat roads. I would never make a habit of towing this combo since it weighs about 7000# but in an emergency I just couldn't leave the Cobra to be washed away.:shake:

I would say from past "Panther Experience" that you should be fine at 2500# but YOU WON'T LIKE THE FUEL MILEAGE!!

Just be sure to change your fluids more frequently and you should be A-OK!!:D
