View Full Version : Anybody up for a group run at Moroso again?

I was wondering if anybody was up for another night of test & tune:burnout:
in the near future? I personally have realized my foot has gotten a bit heavier around town, and Moroso seems to be a good way to vent. I know that there have been a lot of upgrades to many members MM recently, and I figure this could be a good opportunity to test them out before Marauderville IV:banana2: .

Im interested in it. The only thing is that the weather is hot and muggy and the humidity sucks. The cars wont run too well but Im still down for a Moroso night.

I say we all go on Friday Aug.4. If the weather Holds. What time does the track open? Also Note : You can rent a helmet at the Track if you need one.

Be in line by 5:30. It's a long line.

A good helmet will only cost you about $150. Renting helmets is worse than bowling shoes! Ya'll know you could borrow mine if I'm too slow. I'm hoping to break the 14 barrier, though.... Just wash your dang hair before coming to the track! Except Rob, of course!

Really and truly, as organized as our chapter of SSM can be, I'd like to see this become a regular meeting. Like Tower on the 3rd Friday and Moroso on the 1st Friday maybe (as Moroso's schedule allows).

There's a backfield to park for those who don't wanna run and plenty o' cool cars to look at and people to talk to just like at Towers.

Let's think about, huh. Whad'ya think, Z?

That's what I was thinking. I'm going to start going again but not until October/ Novembor. Plus my rear tires are down the ribs in the middle. I want to wait until I get a new set.

Why don't You & Blackmobile work it out & post it starting next month lets say the first friday of the month, or every other month, lets see what happeneds. Maybe it will work out to be something good for our group. The weather right now isn't ideal for racing ,but I'm sure as the weather starts to cool down It might catch on and be a steady thing.

ghost03

Sounds like a good idea. I agree with Z about the weather being so crappy lately. It would be a waste if we all had to drive all that way ( Some farther than others ) and have it rain all night....

We can go a few times in the next few months, then make it a regular thing once September / October roll around. By then the weather should be cooler and much less rain. Besides I need some time to get my customized helmet for the track:D :banana2:

Last time I was at Moroso my rear tires were just about gone. Just lower your air preasure and stay out of the water. OR You can just come on up and root for your favorite Secret Service vehicle.

I am on the road for the month of August and either way my car will not be ready for Moroso during this time frame. But rumor has it, rumor:hmmm: , that Diablosport is looking at renting Moroso for us Marauder guys in September for some real time drag race tuning. My little mouse at DS :thinker: is on top of things there so I will keep everyone posted on this "rumor." In the meantime you guys have some fun.

The jacket isn't required for street legal cars over 12 seconds. I called on this last time cuz jackets are EXPENSIVE. All WE need is a HELMET for the times we run. Unless you're gonna start competing with MARTYO!!!!!

Edit: and I guess the DS loop is under 14. I'll just set my dial in for 14 although I am HOPING to break it!

VIVA CUBA........CUBA LIBRE....... Lets have a nice cold one to celebrate. Hey Rick..I thought I saw you on the news last night celebrating on the streets of Hialeah with a few cuban mama's on the hood of you Marauder.

As for the hurricane.....Im not surprized. Last night it was just a depression and the news said that it wouldnt even make it past 35mph winds. That just goes to show you that they have been celebrating down in Hialeah all night. Supposidly its going to be a cat 1 on Friday...Of course. It always rains on Fridays..I guess its time for the Florida Hurricane exersise program. Put the shutters up, Take the shutters down. Put them back up then take them back down.

It is time for a run down the 1320

last time I was able to run 13.0 (numerous things done incorrectly)

Since then:
Widdened rims with Nitto 555 rubber all around
Metco control arms

I have been told this combination will help a bit in the launch,

I hope to see times of 12.8 or better,

See you all there

OK people, So far it looks like Friday is a go. Rain doesn't appear to be much of a threat (sporadic showers here and there, but the evenings look good for some cooler air for the MM to breath). So far we have 3 S/C, and 2 N/A, so can we interest any others to join us in breathing the fresh air of burnt rubber, racing fuel, and Carbon Monoxide at Moroso? I used these terms to get my girlfriend to stay home on Friday, and my kid doesn't like the flying bugs he encountered the last time they went with me to the track.

I checked out rozkopeeko's profile and it stated he was S/Ced, which brings our head count up to 5.
I was planning on getting out of work about 3:30 and heading home to drop off my trunk organizer
and grab a bite to eat before heading up to Moroso at about 4-4:30. Predicting normal Friday traffic on the turnpike,
I figure I'd get there to be in line about 5:30-6:00. If anyone wants to meet up before hand just let me know.
Traffic tends to move out of the way when we travel in a group. Ed

It was a nice turn out. It was hot, but we all had fun. 4 marauders total and me in my GT. It was my first run with this car and I did a best of 13.960 @ 101.90 with a .233 r/t and a 2.110 60'. Ill let the others who went post up their times.

Man, did we have a time and a half. My first run was my fastest run at 14.8 and my Best R/T .066,
too bad they weren't on the same run.
I found some faults that have to be addressed but all in all I had loads of fun.
I also found the best place to sell a S/C, and that would be at the end of the track,
because if one was there I would have scarfed it up("We need more power Scotty").

Cobra25

Blackmobile
08-13-2006, 01:29 PM
I almost forgot about the track conditions being a measurable factor because the longer I was there the slower of I felt I was going.
I'm taking into consideration my R/T of .066 was the beginning end of a 15.08 @ 96.2 run. My 60' started at 2.23 and ended up being 2.51. But I have to keep in mind my brain deadness since the majority of the night I forgot to turn off the OD.

So the lesson learned is that I need more of the 2 P's.

More Practice and more Power.

Anyways, I can't talk. I didn't break 15 all night, either. The mods I've done since the last Moroso trip have actually slowed me down. Just goes to prove you gotta tune for extra air!!!!
