Why does this always happen?

When I do a burnout in my car or truck only the right wheel will spin and then the left one will get going after a few seconds. Why don't they both go at once? Or do you need a locker for such a thing? I'm sure this question applys to other cars as well.

Dude I'm on LSD almost everyday how did you know!? By LSD I mean Lake Shore Drive and thats a nice road if you ask me. Whats wrong with asking how a diff works? Again if I was a new member as asked it would be gladly answered. I know how a locker works, but what we got I don't understand. I'm putting the past behind me quicker then a Honda in my rearview mirror, apparently there are a few immature individuals that still wanna go.
