Dear Gang,
I am just retuning from the "Church of the Donut", every Sunday morning in Burtonsville at the corner of Rt.29 and 198 at the Dunkin' Donuts we hold services, this morning we just about filled the place up with 200 cars.
I was walking around and one of the guys there had beautiful custom photo colages of cars he has shot, I am looking at a poster of hunderds of cars that show up for "Church of the Donut" and find my '69 Roadrunner on it and say "how long ago did you make this up? I don't own that car any more."
he said
"I am adding new cars to it all the time"
We start talking and he was at the CAM meet we had at Safford LM in June and pulls out a poster of all our cars! This is cool. 10 bucks each. Then he shows me the "daytimmer" he made up and sells, pro photos on the pages and space the write out your daily notes. I see a bright future for the MM.net'ers and Ken's photographs. E-mail him at karmakvisser@yahoo.com and try to get him to join MM.net and do some stuff to hang on our walls, I know Charlie will do burnouts anytime a camera is pointed at him. Ken is building a big Lincoln so he is in to us.
Bug him 'till he relents at:

Hey Guys,
Today I had the pleasure of running into Tom Doan and his awesome 600hp Marauder. We got to talking and I showed him my Church of the Holy Donut poster. It has over 600 cars on it. I'm going to customize one for Tom with a picture of his car and motor. Then I showed him a poster I had done of the Safford Lincoln Mercury show. I came because of my interest in Lincolns due to the 64 Lincoln Continental Convertible I am working on. The event was so well organized that I decided to stay and photograph the entire proceedings. The FDR impersonator and free food and wonderful music were great. I took photos of virtually every car that was there. I was in my friend's white 50th Commemorative Vette (a 99 C5 made to look like a 53)
Then I decided to create a collage of the event. I had done one for Daniel Jobe of Capitol Cadillac which I mounted, matted and framed and hangs in his dealership of the 05 Fall show. I thought the owners of Safford might like one. They really liked the collage and might get one for the dealership.
I didn't even think to reach out to you guys until I met Tom by chance today. I hope you like it and I hope that I got everyone's car in there. If I missed anyone, I can certainly add them as long as a photo taken at the event is submitted.
The 12x18 prints are 10 bucks. Shipping will be a little extra. I can also go the entire route if someone is interested in a 22x28 framed piece. It will look fantastic on a wall. I can also add a Marauder logo to brand the piece as well. That's the beauty of this, we can do anything electronically. I come from an 18 year career in the printing industry so I have the skills to do the job right.
I also do daytimers if you are interested. These are not calendars. Those you touch once a month if you remember. My daytimers are much more useful. I include all the automotive dates directly into the daytimers. It becomes an information database that you keep in your car to write downs numbers and new show or shops. I want to release it after April because that is when a majority of car dates are solidified.
It was so cool running into Tom and finding this very active community. Hopefully we can do some great stuff.
Cheers,
Ken Visser

Thanks for the welcome! I didn't want my first post to be an ad, but Tom kinda put me up to it. I didn't want my phone ringing off the hook requesting a poster image to be shown. My problem is that I love cars and talking/photographing them!
Once I saw Tom's motor and heard more specs on it, I can see why he sold his RoadRunner and ended up with the SVT car.
cheers

Here are some segmented sections of the CAM poster.
Thought it would be easier to see what the layout was like and if your car was included.
cheers

Welcome Ken! The poster look great and I even spotted my silver MM on the left hand side towards the bottom. I would be interested in a 12x18 poster of the Safford Show.

The automotive portraits are a work of art in their own right. I do those for 500. Now that includes at least 1 photo shoot, a number of proofs to make sure we have everything the way you want it, then we go to a 22x28 mounted peice, a well chosen matt, plus a chrome frame with glass. Plus I provide 10 12x18 prints to give to friends or nephews.
Here are a couple of more samples.

What I would like to do is get everyone online, see if there are any stragglers to include, make the final decision on titling, then work on getting everyone their copies.

Ken, great pics. I believe I made the cut as well. My SB has the trunk and hood up in there. As the question above. What are we looking at for the lay-out of the Masserati? That is pretty cool. How large can it be made? I really want to know. Thanks and welcome aboard!! I would also be interested in a Safford pic as well. I now see the post above re: price. I would like to talk to you.

I believe that there were 15-16 MMs at the Safford L/M day. I am in for a poster .... but I'll pass on the $500 artwork photoshoot. :D
Maybe this thread needs to be moved to the Capital Area Marauder's (CAM) forum? Or start another one on the Safford Day Poster? :dunno:

I can understand that. :o The automotive portrait is not for everyone. To me its something for the person out there that has invested greatly in both time a capital in their ride as well as emotion. Being a car owner myself, (64 Lincoln Continental Convertible) I know the blood, sweat and tears that go into these things. (believe me, I know, with 19 motors operating on state of the art 1964 technology operating via hydralics, solenoids and relays to open my trunk, initiate the flap extension, unscrew the lead posts, slam the top in the trunk, close the trunk and screw it down, all with one lever, I know automotive troubleshooting pain)
As mentioned previously, the price includes at least one photoshoot, several versions for approval, a finalized, professionally framed 22x28, mounted, matted, piece of art plus ten 12x18's to give to friends. If I charged for all the time I put in these things, the price would be substantially higher. I do it more out of the love of the car and pursuit of the money shot. Its also something to keep in mind if you ever have to sell your car. You have something to remember it by in art form as opposed to a couple of tattered photos fading in a drawer.
Here are a couple more portraits plus a photo of the collage I did for the owner of capital cadillac of their 05 spring show
cheers
