Alright sense everyone on here knows I'll probably get a new engine I was wondering if the engines in Lincoln Marc VIII's are worth looking into. I know it was on here before, but it's fishy to me. I know they had about 280hp and not 302 or 305. Also will Marauder parts work just as well on these engines or do I have to go out of my way to find special Lincoln Marc VIII parts? I have seen a guy run 11.6 with a Lincoln with the same engine as we have, but I didn't know if anything was different other than the iron block.

Also was it all Lincoln Marc 8's had iron blocks or was it a selcet few like LSC models? I was told 500hp is about the most or blocks can handle before we get major problems. I don't plan on going more than 500hp, but as long as I have to get a new engine I was just looking into this. Thanks.

Go get a 1968 Ford 427 with dual overhead cams. I figure you can safely go to 1,200 HP with that one.

Not sure it will fit. You'll need a new tranny, driveshaft, rear end, axles and way fatter tires too. Prolly have to tighten up the frame abit too.

Seriously, why not look into getting forged internals (Pistons, rods, crank...) and stick with our block. If I'm not mistaken, the block and heads will take it, but the connecing rods will fail first....if not forged.

Talk to a local machine shop. They will likely know the ropes.

no no no..
Heres the scoop on Mark VIII motors..

Alum block. Teksid to be precise. Cast in Italy at the Ferarri(?) plant. Extremely strong block. Sought after block for high hp cars.
B heads, split port intake runners, with IMRC's. Our 03+ heads are MCUH better for making NA power. the only time B heads really shine is 8000+ rpm and/or high boost. they flow too much air stock to be a great performer. They arent BAD but there not optimal by any means.
The cams are pretty mild. Ours are much better as well. the internals are the same, same cast crank, same powdered metal rods, same cast pistons.

About the only thing of value to us from a Mark motor is the block. fill it with some forged goodies and you will be able to go well past 500hp before it fails..

I'm not interested in getting into the "what's best" arguments again, to each his own. But, what I don't understand, Dominick, is why you are turning away from what you already own.

For about 4500 bucks in parts and skilled labor, you can build up your Marauder engine to be a real bad azzed street machine putting 500 plus to the wheels.

I suppose it's fun to shop around and fantasize about what is possible. But, when you get to what is probable, take a hard look at the Marauder engine in it's OEM form again and realize that with the right machining and attention to detail, all that exotic stuff is wasting your money.

yeah, there really isnt anything wrong with our blocks, they will hold up to more power than most of us will ever put down. no need to another block unless you want to build up a motor while you still drive your car..

no need to another block unless you want to build up a motor while you still drive your car. And this my friend, is very good advice too.
