Yesterday was the first time I've driven my car in about three weeks. My wife said that I'd abandoned it. A big long scratch "appeared" on the fender, during a one week period when I wasn't driving it, nobody knew where it came from, and I've been to sad, mad, and disgusted to go near it. I finally took it out yesterday evening with my two young daughters, 3 and 8. They love to drive with all four windows down and the tunes up loud, and that's what we were doing.

We made a pass into the new school my oldest will start next Monday, and a police car followed us into the bus drive and pulled up beside me. The young officer said that there was nothing wrong, he was just checking on the nice car being in the "hood". I wasn't what he was expecting to be driving the car, apparently. I told him about my daughter coming to school there, and that I worked for the school district and appreciated him checking on the school like that. After visiting for a few minutes, I left, with him close behind.

Pulling out of the school onto a two lane street, I got on it a little, and then when I pulled onto a 4 lane street, I goosed it again pretty good, but only up to the speed limit. He really goosed his CVPI to get up beside me, gave me the thumbs up, and yelled "Man, I love the sound of your car. It sounds GOOD!". (It's got the factory mufflers and delete tips.) I thanked him and he took off.

My 8yo said "Dad, you can't sell this car - everybody loves it." Ain't it the truth?

They are well loved... I got a thumbs-up yesterday from a guy in a pretty new Porsche 911 Cab... I was tailing him through slower traffic and we were having just a bit of fun... but props from the cops... too cool!

Nice story. I think that was meant to happen since you were depressed with your MM. You gotta keep it, even your 8 yr old knows it...

I was on the local loop last night and a guy in a GTO was checking out my car...front, back, side, other side. All at about 70 MPH.....not meaning to hijack your thread but we have very nice cars and it deffinately is a head turner.

Good story "Big Daddy". You need something to remind you why this car means so much to you and your family. No more racing "5-O"!!

There's certainly something about these cars, isn't there? I mean, they have pretty crappy build quality and they sure didn't have the content for the price that was on the sticker, but they are a lot of fun to drive, and they are roomy and comfortable. The most noticeable quality about them is just their looks. My wife and I have talked about this a lot. There are flashier and better looking cars out there, but the Marauder just has a certain "presence" about it. In a town loaded with all sorts of cars from $1500 beaters to Caddies and Infinities with colorful paint jobs and big shiny wheels, the Marauder ALWAYS turns heads. When cruising the car lots (My 3yo: "Daddy, we ALREADY HAVE A CAR!"), even the car salesmen vultures are checking out the car.

Although I normally take my school truck, I got up early this morning and washed the car before taking it to work. My girls came with me and are having a ball!

The Marauder has the right combination of Presence, Character and Style. :D Most of the automotive offerings on the road today are hard pressed to manage just one of those qualities. We get all three in stock form. Those that choose the "Modifications" route can add the 4th quality --- "Mean" to the roster. :bows:

Well said. We have to admit there are lots of cars out there of higher quality (ie no buzzing speakers, no 124 mph limiter ect...) but there are only a few that get more looks. My car gets looks at almost every stop light and I have to admit I enjoy that. I had an 04 GTO previously that would blow the doors off my MM but in the 9 months I owned it nobody/nobody even gave it a glance. I know over time these cars will look better and better as old school muscle cars compared to whats coming out. Mines a keeper.
