If you call them they may be willing to work the deal with an aluminum block that you send them. Usually they take off 2-300$ with your block. Of course, they are in Cali I think so shipping charges could mount.

I've done business with them, and find them to be a good company with great customer service. Yeah, the shipping will bite, but confidence is high. I just hope they don't go off the deep end in popularity someday, like it seems to happen with less professional companies. They get so big and full of themselves, no one gets good product or service anymore.

Well, other than my lazy a$$ it is going good. :D
I got the pan, timing and valve covers and upper intake back from powdercoat and installed the MMR oil pump, canton windage tray, Moroso oil pan and the timing cover. I still have to put the pullies, intakes and valve covers on, then drop it in. Then I can start on the turbo stuff.
I felt a glimmer of motivation today, so it should go in this weekend.:D
Thanks for putting in the link Mac!

I didn't think it was possible for a block to be forged...

Maybe forged internals?

Theoretically (sic), one could forge a hunk of steel into a nearly block shape. The expensive part would be all the machining to make bores, gallies, etc. Much cheaper to pour (cast) the near shape, then minor machine the specifics.

The people looking for one know what the term means. Now you know. :D "forged" and "built" are used interchangeably to describe a block with forged internals, though I tend to think of a "built" block to be bored out, etc.

The blocks advertised by MMR are new production Windsor, or, Romeo plant cast iron blocks, your choice at the point of purchase.
Essentially, these blocks are no different than the aluminum Marauder/Mach I/Aviator blocks, other than being around 75 pounds heavier. Same block as the '03-'04 Mustang Cobra, but I don't know if that block is a Windsor or Romeo build. There are slight differences between them, but nothing major.
MMR's base 600 HP rated short block with a Ford Racing cast 6 bolt crank, is quite a deal at a price under 2200 bucks. Specify your desired compression, and bolt together a real winning combo, ready for the power adder of choice.
MMR also offers FR500 heads, cams and valves, including their own valve design, however, you can save a few dollars by having your own Marauder heads updated to FR 500 specs, for a lot less...IMHO.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you just have to take a break and re-group.

Just an FYI for anyone considering MMR.
I just got my shortblock in from MMR a week or so ago. Looks great. I went with the iron block even though I now found out that I could have had a brand new aluminum block for right at $300. It was to late when I found out about that deal though.
I was very impressed with MMR and the guy I dealt with there, Chris.
They were willing to do some extras I wanted even when it was no profit involved for them at all due to a third party performing the work.
The shipping was under $200 by the way. All the way from Cali to the far north east corner of Florida.
