Recently I upgraded the corner marker assembly on my 2006 Mustang GT (I will post on that later). In that setup you use what they call Stealth Bulbs. As Barry pointed out in aonther post, they are the same bulb, only coated in a micro thin layer of proprietary metal coating. The otherwise amber bulb appears to be a mirrored finish when off, but the true amber when activated. I ended up with an extra set of the bulbs, which are the same part number on both the Mustangs and Marauders. I have always hated the amber bulb in the clear assembly on the Marauder, sticks out like a sore thumb. They call that the eggyolk effect. I just installed the stealth bulbs in the Marauder and am very happy. From a short distance, the bulbs blend right into the reflectors and become invisible, unlike the ugly amber eggyolk stock bulbs. Damn, what a simple and easy but very visually appealing thread.

I must have missed it if it was on here originally. I found out about them on the Mustang Forum. I will post the thread on the totally clear corner markers. They do look good.

Is that the only place to get them or are the local automotive shops that should carry them as well?

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=96 45&stc=1&d=1155084656 Are these bulbs any brighter than the stock bulbs. I have been looking to change the bulbs to brighter deeper amber color like the Coorvette has without changing the wiring harness or having it melt the housing or wires

Are these bulbs any brighter than the stock bulbs.
(Not trying to step on Dave)....but NO.
No brighter, and perhaps 5% darker as a result of the coating. This mod is an asthetic issue, correcting the goofy looking orange bulb visible through the clear lense.
A brighter (higher lumens) replacent bulb is easily cross referenced at at any NAPA store (they have awesome supplier stat catalogues) and do NOT require any harness upgrades.

I know that I am dumber than a box of rocks and suffering from OldTimers disease as well. But, I have read this thread twice and still have no idea what to order from the Ebayer or the FLAPS. Can anyone give me a part number or at least some kind of an idea what to look for. thanks for the boost. Dennis:alone:

Dave, please post the part number for the manufacturer YOU found.
Hotrauder, here is the one I found (same as Dave's):
The bulb I speak of is made by "APC", American Products Co. part number 50.4138.B (3157 replacement) and is available from your local 'ricer' store or by logging onto www.4apc.net (http://www.4apc.net/) and the price was about $6 each.

No problem Barry! Guys, here you go. Select bulb 3157. These bulbs are 29 bucks a pair, but have a LIFETIME replacement policy! I mistakenly ordered 2 sets, which is why I put a set in the Marauder. When I did the Mustang 2 weeks ago one of the bulb filiments in one bulb was broken. These bulbs are dual filament, one is your running light and the other is the brighter turn signal light, all in the same bulb. You can tell one filament is burned or broken because the turn signal flashes and clicks about 5 times faster, letting you know there is a problem with the bulb. I called Stealth Auto, and they sent me a new bulb with NO QUESTIONS asked! Very good customer service. So dont let the price sway you, this is the last time you will buy this bulb.

No, not brighter at all. When I did the mustang, they were super easy to reach, no 10 mm bolts to remove. Took me 30 seconds to pop the socket out and swap bulbs. so what I did was put an amber bulb in place, then when it was dark on, I turned the hazard flashers on and compared the brightness. It was safe to say, since i knew which was which and was really really looking, that the stealth bulbs were a hair dimmer than the clear amber stock bulb. When I called my wife out, she really didnt notice. They say the coating isnt solid, rather a metal glaze that becomes transparent when light is applied from inside. Looks good on both cars and I cant see any potential problems from using them.

Broke down and got the Silver Stars. Actually got the 3157A and some H1 Silver Starts for the fog lights. Got all of that put in yesterday. It is nice that the foglight color of white is now closer to the match of the Silverstar headlights. You can definitely see the difference at night and the reflection of the light on the ground.
