Does anyone know how much darker Marauder tailights are than a Grand Marquis LS?
I want to tint the Grand Marquis tailights to look like the Marauder but I do not want to go too dark so to avoid the officals giving me a hassle.

I don't know the percentage of darkness, but have you priced the Marauder lights?

I used the night shade tint paint from Summit racing and I love it. The more coat you put on the darker it gets. I have it on both of my Mercs and it look good. I used 3 coats and have not been bothered by the oinkers yet. i can e-mail you a pic of my MM its to big to load.:D

I had the part where the light shows through taped and painted the same color as the car. Easy to remove. Best painted in a booth.

since i work in nyc, and all the cabs are Crown Vics, i can't tell that their tail lights are any darker then the MM. I've often wondered why the MM tailights dont' look darker on my Silver birch 04 mm. And I've seen thousands of cabs!!

The RED part of the Marauder tail light is NOT tinted from the factory.
In fact, its the silver reflective panals on the inside of the light assembly that
are black (on some angles) to make the light look darker. If you look into
the light itself (side by side with CV/GM/MM) you can see the painted
reflectors.

Have had mine Nite Shade(d) for over 2years now; no issues with the MI | NC police ( city, county, state ). *Nor will any states that I've routinely driven thru - GA, VA, WV, OH, IN ).

Exactly..the answer is ZERO.
Both tail lights...in respect to the lense over bulb...are exactly the same.

I'm glad younz cleared this up. From the moment I heard the Marauder tail lights were tinted I just couldn't see it. Now maybe I'll have them tinted ala the Baretta's. Dark enough to see the red still shining through.

Silly me but...why in the he** would you tint your tailliights? Taillights warn other drivers that you ar going to either stop or turn. I don't get it.

"Not as bright" is the key. Exactly. Could not have said it better myself. We do a lot to modify our Marauders but it is not wise to do any modification that takes safety away. I expect to hear a lot of flack for this but oh well!!! Ya all know I'm right!!

Yes you do. I have my '95 Vic Night Shaded and I've gotten no hassle from the local PD at all. I only paid $8 a can for mine, and one can did both my lights.

According to the Mercury Marauder brochure
"...the taillights are tinted as dark as the FMVSS will allow."

I think if you tape off the two(or 3 if you add one) slits where the light shines though they look great. I like to use the same black paint as the car not the night shades.
I only got stoped once in S.C. the Officer following me did not notice the open area at first. As soon as I put the brakes on and we pulled over he walked up to the car and laughed. At first glance he though I had no tailights.

Yes, the Red lense is just a portion of the taillight. The reflective
backing is what is blacked out, just like the headlights are 'tinted' its
in fact the piece on the inside of the lense. Ask me how I know. :)

Tail lights look great....
However what I want to know is :hijack: are those stock wheels that have been powder coated?
Got a closer picture?
Thanks, Architect
