I have a 97 MGM and some lovely neighborhood kids decided to break my taillights. I was looking to upgrade my taillights to LEDs or some euro lights or something. But I havent found anything for any of our cars. I was wondering if anyone has tried to build or successfully built custom taillights that are leagal on the road.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are replacement bulbs that are LED-based. I haven't seen anything regarding replacement lenses other than the OEM ones.

Did you file a police report on the damage and do you know who the parents are? I'd ask my insurance company to persue the matter with the police / parents.

I've been looking for years. No LEDs. No altezza style. Nothing. Oh yeah, and don't try to use those LED bulbs unless you use a resistor cuz they use to little current, they tell the flasher a bulb is burnt out!

To answer the question posed in the title of the thread: Yes.

The LCM will freak out if you put in LEDs, and flash irradically and eventually make things like cruise, CHMSL, blinkers, stop working. Really.

One of my cars was damaged by a neighbours child..The Insurance CO
simply got his address and name and filed it through his home owners Ins..
Of course this is in Canada but does it apply there?.As the child is a third party and not a driver the auto ins..does not apply..

Defyant, those look freakin' sweet. Where did you get something like those?

I did the same trick. Mask off the lines that are already on the taillights. I used 3 coats primer, 2 coats black and 2 coats clear.
Black you can get away with a do-it-yourself job.
Defyant had his done at a bodyshop. It looks even better in person.

Blackened yours looks good as well. Personally, I would like to have something like Defyant's on my Marauder, even though it is black. I will have to question some of the shops around here if they can do something like that, even though it may be difficult for me seeing as I live in a rural area.
