Well I had an extended warranty on my Lincoln LS and than of course traded for the '03 'Rauder. Called the warranty place(Great Alantic Warranty) and asked about canceling. Today I finally got some answers and they said I could cancel and recieve $1,500 back in about 8-12 weeks or I could used what I paid already and just transfer it to the Merc. It sounds good but they want another $1000 or 18 pymnts(would have to do this) of $55 a month and than I'm covered fully for like 6 yrs, 100K.
Just wondering what others think. I think its alittle BS cause why should my Marauder cost more than my Luxury car? That $55 could go for gas with the way things are. I just do not know, this car is totally new to me and I would hate for a problem to occur and it be some big money. I am sure its much better than the LS w/ its many problems but I could sure use that $1,500 and of course not pay anymore.:alone:

Get the money back. I believe I paid a little under 1500 for my extended warranty of 5yr/100k. From Ford, ESP which includes rental car and has a $50 deductible.

Ok, that is what they offer for me w/ the deduct and rental. I'm gonna give them a call and find out about canceling now. If anything I well just go to a FLM dealer and find out about one from them.

If the Marauder had low miles or average miles on it and was in nice shape I'd go for the refund.

Damn, that is just a touch over want my LS warranty cost and they wound almost $3300 for the Merc.
Yea I called them after getting off and left the women a message saying I want to cancel so I well probably get a call in the mid morning. Not worth paying that type of money for a warranty. I am going to check out what ford can do after sometime but I already have plans for the refund. I have a '90 sable v6 w/ no idle, going to get it fixed than tune up and than sell for about $1000(decent car) than I well come out on top w/ over $2000 hopefully. Not sure where it well go, probably into the savings.
Thanks for the advice and checking that out Smokie.

Everything sold at retail in the world today has an "extended warranty" available for it, and I think this is all just another scam. Next thing you know, I'll be buying an extended warranty on a BIC pen...
My last trip to Best Buy for an RCA made battery operated portable CD player with headphones, for 19 dollars, earned me an offer at the check-out for a "extended warranty" for three years, for 7.99. Ahem...that's 7.99 per year, K?
Crunch the numbers? Isn't 7.99 X 3 years just under 24 bucks end cost? More than the original cost of this CD player?
"You goofy kid?" I said. "This piece of crap won't live three years, who buys CDs anymore?" He just turned red, and away, nodding his head in agreement all the way.
Call me a reckless gambler, but I won't buy any extended warranty for anything ever. Just doesn't make financial sense to me. Seems like a major scam on the consumer public, IMHO.
"Insurance". Insurance against what, wear and tear? Technology? New development?
Biggest con-men in the world are insurance agents, after salesmen that is.
13 years ago I moved into a brand new home with all new appliances and utilities. New stove/oven, fridg, hot tub, washer, dryer, dish washer, A/C, heating plant, hot water heater, garage door opener...I could have added "extended warranties" for all of them into my mortage payment (and imagine what that adds to my amortized purchase price over a 30 year mortage?). I did not buy any of them.
Today...13 years later, and I have had to replace my A/C compressor for 2K and the hot water heater for 650 bucks, plus a new garage door, but not the opener, which was not covered.
By now, any of my "extended warranties" on all that crap would be worthless in recovery from sudden failure, because things wear out and die. And, I would not have much of the "necessary paperwork" the insurance would have asked for, due to my "clutter factor", and several re-finances of my mortage since then. All them build guys promising to come back and fix things are long gone today. The builder is dead, and his contracted employees are scattered outback. Who can I call? Not one of them.
Maybe BP should have bought an extended warranty on the Alaskan pipeline, eh?
Flame suit is on, folks, lot's of Nomex in place here, so, let's hear your priceless recovery stories. But, remember now...While you're telling them, that the one real "it saved my azz" story fact has to include all the other extended warranties you bought for all those other things in your home and life that just died away slowly, or, came to be improved through better technology upgrades, ala CD vs vinyl records, cassette tapes, video cassette tapes and so on, that did not invoke any warranty claim on their own.

My lease is up and the bank offered thru Century Warranty Services---
to cover me for 5 more yrs. up to 120,000 miles.
I have 60k on the MM
They want 1723.00 and it covers it all except paint ( too bad its cracking )
And NO I am not going to turn it in on a STR8 Charger.
The GT500 is super but too small and not automatic.\
I Am Going To Keep My Cool MM !!!!!

Dang--Sarge=Your were on a mission to point out your findings--for sure---give Beamer a break--He was just asking--he doesn't realize you can go on for ever when something hits your lightbulb----------BUT
I must say--I agree with you--I couldn't stop  reading your reply---
I too --when I last bought my new '98 CV and the MM --was asked --"do you want extended warranty"--I replied--"Hey --if it won't last past the 36 your giving me--then take it back!!-" --to which they say---Oh yeah --it will last beyond that for sure----so I then say--"well --why do I need that stupid thing then--end of subject---"--I further tell them --if it needs work after warranty--it will be the last one I buy-----they don't like me much when I buy---
Seems we have :hijack: this somewhat---sorry Beamer--but its all in fun----

I had a 88 Mustang 5.0 LX that had the 7/100K warranty and I street raced it regularly. By the time I traded it in on a Lightening They had put 7 aod transmissions in it no questions asked. It was a ford corporate warranty and they didnt give me any grief just a rental car....
