Hi,

My first web form post, not bad for a guy who has been in IT for 20 years eh? ....anyway onto the point, just got my Marauder two weeks ago, and I would like to say thanks to all of you for the information you shared on this site. Your insightfullness, resourcefullness, and heartfelt descriptions of the MM went a long way in helping me feel comfortable wth my decision to purchase. I am not sure of the demographics of this site but I am sure we are all of the same "built by union labor on American soil" (In know, St Thomas is in Canada but it doesn't match the lyrics.... ) kind of people. I think I'd be hard pressed to find many of you who traded in your beamers on the MM.

I would like to add my voice to the many before me who think this is a really nice, long awaitied, answer to the muscle car thirst today. The MM is everything I could want in a production sedan. ... it really is a nice set of wheels... I am really enjoying the car, even more than my old 86 IROC. I find it to be the perfect balance of performance sedan and luxury sedan. Prior to owning the Marauder, I owned what in my mind was the closest thing to the Marauder in terms of appointments, (GM LS, dark blue, with dark Blue leather interior, 220HP towing package) of it's day (1996) but it obviously lacked the performance (not to mention that jet engine sound when you floor it?) of the Marauder.

As a novice in the performance car arena, I will be soliciting your opinions to everything from window tinting to the Kenny Brown S. I am sure that being a part of mm.net will significantly enhance my enjoyment of my car, and offer me insights into the potentialities of this vehicle.

Thanks....

Just what IS that sound anyway?

On the highway yesterday afternoon, a provincial police squad car came roaring by at full steam. Okay, roaring is not the word... it was more like 'whistling' by. It sounded like it had a vacuum leak the size of a grapefruit. From inside the car, I have noticed the jet engine sound you describe, and I'm curious what it is as well.

I was flooring the accelerating to merge onto the highway because some ***** wouldn't adjust her speed either way or move over to let me in. I was only focused on safely getting into the flow of traffic when my daughter suddenly said, "Wow - your car just SCREAMED!"

Enjoy your new car, Johnny!

Thanks Guys.... Enjoying it I am! Do you guys have any suggestions on window tint. I went to Derand the other day and the kid I talked to, who really seemed to know his stuff, showed me some tiniting called Millenium that came in three flavors, 18% 35% & 50%. I liked the 35%. The Millenium brand/make had a more reflective finish than I had seen before on other cars but I liked the look on a car they had on the premises, an gold colored olds of some sort, but I am wondering how it would look on the Marauder black. Your input would be much appreciated.

Thanx....

John

Welcome aboard and enjoy your ride, the fun is just starting!!
I just did my tint in 35% Platinum....not sure of the brand... Lumar I think... it has a mild reflective look to it and brings in some silver flash, not obnoxious but just a bit to set off the beautiful wheels on the car.
I like it and it is the second car that I have had it on, with no problems.
The black looks great too...just check out LML's prom pics post to see it in black.

That is the fun part of owning the MM it is great stock but customizing it is even better!!
Lots of good info on this site.... just try a search for most any subject.

Welcome aboard! You'll love the site, and eventually love it's people...

My tint is Lumnar 15% black. I love it! It's not really all that bad in the day time, you can still see pretty good shadows from the outside, just no colorful detail. At night is another story... Seeing out is just as good as if it weren't there! I like the black as it makes the images you see in the black paint flow with the same shade. I'd definately do a silverish like FLA mentioned if I had a silver MM!

Johnny Welcome to the site and enjoy the MM. My prior car was a Black 2000 GM with the handling package. John:up:

OMG. I just saw the word "VAX". I'm starting to flash back on the old PDP-11.

I need to drive these thoughts out of my mind now with a little romp in my Rauder!

Welcome to the Club and welcome to the site, Johnny!

Thanks Guys, it's nice to be made to feel so welcome! Besides being well informed the people on this site have a great sense of humor too! Thanks TTA I'm in agreement with doorknob, it's a pretty damn cool sound, whatever it is??? Thanks Todd, another couple of CC and cokes, and any coherence should rapidly disspate.... Fla Raud Fan, I tried to find some of LML's pics showing his window tint on the site, but I can't seem to find them, any hints? I am really looking forward to doing some tasteful customizations, and I think this site is going to be my primary resource for learning about what is available....

Thanks WolfeBros, it sounds to me like we will be in touch over the next little while.... LML, thanks, I do love the site, and from what I have seen to date it seems to me like the site is a reflection of the quality of the members & contributors!

M57, thanks I am enjoying the sweet ride! BDJ, Those pins will be ordered soon.

jgc61sr2002, thanks for the reply, I guess I now know that a black 2000 GM must have been the closest thing to a MM, but I have never seen one in Canada... good taste!

Tetsu, funny thing I did work on more VAX'es in my day than there are BMW's running around my neighbourhood, but I got the name from my Aircraft registration C-GVAX, but it's nice to see that I have a soulmate who probably also knows what "Chad" is!!! Thanks for the warm welcome tetsu! Same to you Heavy D!

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to reply to my post, I really appreciate each and every comment. Today for the first time I saw another MM in Ottawa. I was at a suburban mall, and a guy pulled up beside me in his MM, rolled down his passenger window and told me I had great taste! It was nice to see another MM owner, if you are on this site I'd love to get the MM's togteher for a photo op if possible, and if there are any other MM's in the area, you would be most welcome to join the picture!

Thanks again everyone, springtime is a great time of year to stretch those V8 muscles.... God Bless America!

Son of a gun... what a coincidence! It wasn't me, but I was in Ottawa this evening as well (east side - went to Louis' Steakhouse for a Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa F-body meet then hung out at Adam's Airport Inn for a few hours bench racing...).

I brought my MM due to the fact I still have my original 45000 mile Goodyear F1s on the WS6 and it was raining quite a bit. I didn't want to take a chance with my wife and kid on such a long wet trip, even though there's still a fair amount of tread left. And my GTA never sees rain anymore, since 1995. And the 1978... you gotta be kidding, driving that thing to Ottawa would make me go broke in gas bills!!!!

I just got back, and I may head back up tomorrow morning for their show-and-shine at 10am at the Outback (I think somewhere on Bank street) followed by a tour of the wind-tunnel at the NRC. I haven't decided which car I'd bring... it will depend on the weather, if I end up deciding to attend.

If you ever decide to come down to Montreal for a visit, let me know. I'm always up for a car gathering.

Jeez, what a small world...

Welcome, nice to see another Canuck (although you'd be surprised how many of our American friends are closet Canadians). If you're ever in the Windsor area, PM or e-mail me first so we can get together.
