my car has about 300 miles on it and so far i'm getting a horrid 11mpg. i've never heard of breaking in an engine to to go from something as drastic as 11 to 23 mpg. it is mostly town driving.

thoughts?

Hey Fat --

My first two tanks have been identical -- 21.4 MPG each. Got about 320 miles on each tank before filling.

I would say stop stomping on it -- you're supposed to be breaking IN the engine, not just breaking it!

:D

Thanks,

That's normal. I thought I was playing way too much too. Got 11MPG and I swear I didn't get on her, much... It'll get better, I promise!

23.9 mpg (in reverse). Think 'demolition derby'. Save that radiator!!
I will check the mpg in a forward gear when I gas up again next month.
Driving with care from the back seat!!

Just back from a trip to Evansville, Indiana (from Warren Michigan, making a stop over in Indianapolis) my MM averaged 24.8 mpg. Only a couple of WOT's on the highway, some city driving in Evansville and Indianapolis, about 5 mph over the limit on the highway. No major construction or traffic tie-ups to muck up the mpg average. MM started trip with 5,021 miles on the odometer, trip ran a little over 1,000 miles.

james - That is excellent mileage, didn't get that with my 2000 GM with the handling package. Have not yet taken a long trip with the MM. John:D
