I'm going tomorrow to pick up a 2003 CVPI with 72k miles. I'll be pulling and selling the engine and tranny. The car will be done for SEMA.
From there, the car goes to the paint shop, they're stripping it down to the frame and doing it right. We're doing the paint and decals as a replica of the Taxi movie car, except with a pearl yellow color instead of flat mustard. I think I'm going with a custom air suspension on the car, so it goes from the paint shop to the minitruck shop for the installation.
During all of this, a 1000 hp engine is being built - probably a 351W block from Dart with a Procharger F1 SC and a 200-400 hp shot of nitrous to push it to 1200 hp on juice.
I'm looking into a rear end from Currie or Moser, not sure about the tranny yet (suggestions? I want to go with an auto). I'm looking at Baer or Brembo for brakes.
Custom 3" exhaust from Magnaflow, full competition audio system from Digital Designs, still up in the air on wheels. Thoughts? Suggestions? What weak points have I missed that will need be beefed up?
I don't have any part numbers for a lot of this stuff, so any info you guys have would help, particularly on the suspension, axles, and whatever else needs to be beefed up to withstand the horsepower and torque.

Why not stick with a Mod emgine?

Why not stick with a Mod emgine?
Parts are a little cheaper for one,....

I say drop the taxi idea and just make it a sleeper CV. :D

What needs to be done to the axles to handle this kind of horsepower? Specific part numbers would be a huge help.

What needs to be done to the axles to handle this kind of horsepower? Specific part numbers would be a huge help. All we really do here, is weld up the housing in the typical manner, add 31 spline Moser axels, either an Auburn Pro or Eaton posi (most popular anyway) and improved control arms, either PHP or Metco (but I don't know for sure if/how they fit on a '03 CV, should be okay), improved front and rear sway bars from Addco, possibly QA1 shocks. That's about it for reinforcement, and our average RWHP is in the 400-500 range when the power mods come about.
1200 RWHP? Dude, you're on your own there, maybe MartyO or Jerry Barnes can advise you?
Dennis Reinhart can supply you most of your needs, call him at 904.276.5003.

with a windsor based dart block in the 400 ci range, a good head such as the trs-r and a big boost vortech or procharger, ysi, x-trim or f1r, 1200 should not be a problem....you shouldnt need the nitrous!! id skip it all together......id say youll need some form of dfi also....cus i dont think an sct tune would support that kind of power....leave mass air out of the mix all together....at that hp level with a s/c the mass air just becomes an inlet restriction all together....
at an honest 1200 hp id say skip the 31 splines. with a sticky tire a 31 axle will probably not live long under that kind of power. go to a c-clip eliminator setup with 33 spl axles.....
do you care about having 4th gear or not??? if not go with a c6 trans. they can be bulletproofed very inexpensively.....they will also live long under the weight of the cv. i can build a c6 very nicely...and i dare you to break it!

I want to set it up for top speed, not for 1/4 mile, so 4th gear is important.

I'm not big on the "Taxi" idea either, If you are going to put that much money into it why not convert it into a "two" Crown Vic??
Or maybe a modern day Ranchero??
Do something that hasn't been done yet, make the higher ups at Ford scratch their heads and ask "Why didn't we do that?"
I say drop the t-axi idea and just make it a sleeper CV. :D

I own the taxi from the movie Taxi with Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. It's a 2000 Crown Vic, which doesn't have anything available for it. So I'm making a clone of it with a 2003 because it's a media machine that the sponsors like. No one wants to sponsor a Crown Vic, but a movie car is different - it has a large draw and an attractive difference from the Mustangs and Corvettes out there.

Are you still doing the TT idea? Remember what we all said over at CVN, you'll be doing cross country type racing, so you would want plenty of boost at higher top speeds.

A TT setup sounds interesting, but Procharger is one of my biggest and best sponsors. The F1 supercharger will give us more than enough power.

Also, I've heard that the modular engines aren't so reliable with high horsepower, and I want a bulletproof block.

Ahh I see. Sounds like a great/interesting project. Do indeed post pictures of the build.

I don't know anything about the "Taxi" movie.
Are you installing this engine in a Marauder?

Use the SKW1000 for front. I have measured these to fit Marauder. Also use auto air pressure system from Air Ride. Use the factory bags and mounts for the rear, just run bigger line. Factory suspension setup with the PHP or metco arms and watts liks should hold up to the power. I've seen a 900 HP Aero body vic run of factory rear suspension. You would then be able to adjust pressure for firmness, height and rake for best weight transfer or launch or aero or handling or looks.
Note: I am in no way affiliated with Air Ride. Just an occasional customer.
