View Full Version : Possible Idea

I was wondering if anybody else would like to get together and go cruise someplace rather than do ye olde car show routine sometime. Im getting kinda burned out on that myself and thought it might be cool if we could meet as a group and maybe cruise to someplace not too far like Granbury or somewhere together. It would sure be cool for 8-10 Marauders to drive into someplace together as a club. We could all meet at a central location like Irving or someplace mid-day and go from there. Doesnt even have to be that far, heck we could just cruise together to Kellers in Dallas or downtown Grapevine. Just a suggestion, but with these 100 degree days and seeing the same old cars at Chucks, Id be open for some new ideas.
Sounds like a good idea Vortex, I would like to join up and do a 30 mile, more or less, cruise down secondary roads or some such to a destination.
I was doing a look-see on a Texas Map and the DFW area is full of places to go. A target rich environment. Let's do it, Sunday preferred, less traffic I suppose.
I used to do this with my old truck club and it was always a good time, LEO wasn't a problem and we had 60 vehicles. Went thru red lights like a funeral procession, although I wouldn't recommend it. LOL just remembering.
PM the membership and call a mandatory formation on a certain date and have the destination all set up, like a drive-in or museum. Maybe on a non Chuck's weekend in case some want to do both.

Sounds Great.
This heat is the reason I have not been to many car shows either.
I even bought a quick shade pop up.
Oh well.

I think it is a great idea!! Why don't we hook up for lunch somewhere prior to the next Chuck's, head out for another destination and then make Chuck's our final destination???
What does everyone think??

Thats ok with me but Ill admit I was thinking of maybe a different day from Chucks myself.
Re: motorcades, I do that in my day job and Im not planning on going thru lights. I recommend if we do a short road trip everyone be familiar with the route, that way if we get split up, the group that gets cut off just catches up after the light turns green and the first group just slow down. Are there any good places to go 30-50 miles from maybe DFW? A good Dairy Queen in some small town?

I know its a long way off (december) but you may want to look into doing this ....
www.thebigtexastoyrun.com
they let our truck group along with the Corvette and Lightning groups do it last year and it was the best GTG/Run weve ever done.
remember, cars leave from the Dallas location only, Grapevine and FW are bikes only, and you have a job, to block traffic, cars run at the rear of the pack, the police only stop traffic on 30 long enough for the bikes and parade cars to get on.
Its fun, a good cause too, something to think about.
Vortex, what about loop 12? It goes around the city, plenty of places along the way to select as a destination. We could meet and start on the opposite side of the city (loop 12) and cruise to the destination. Length could be 30 miles or better according to my handy dandy Dallas street map.
Isn't Le Peep's just off loop 12? And it's on your side of town Vortex. Maybe we could assemble there?

You folks are doing great--keep the momentum going----the parking lot at LePeep is available on request--no problem there--personally, I'm up to my ears in alligators and the're draining the swamp !!!! Nothing bad, just everything happening at once--you plan it, I'll try to be there--if I can help, PM me. Stay cool, pray for rain, Maury

Anyplace good to go to in Denton? We could meet at someplace central (like the Bass Pro Shop parking lot in Grapevine) and cruise up to Denton. Or,... we could meet someplace else and end up at the Bass Pro Shop as they have a pretty nice bar upstairs. Id prefer meeting up around noon and that way we are finished later in the afternoon. Ill admit now if it looks like rain I probably am out, but hell its been dry now for a year so Im not too worried. For me Saturdays are always better than Sundays. More ideas/suggestions? FYI, I live in Rowlett, so its a drive for me regardless where we meet up, no worries.

We are getting together this weekend at a member's house for a Beer Brewing Bash. Several hours brewing beer, then probably out to dinner somewhere. Feel free to steal the idea!
Vortex, since Saturday is Chuck's time, why don't we meet at Lepeeps @ noon and cruise to Chuck's where we can thrash out for the next time and for Mrjones Oct 7 invite to Lufkin? Let's us know by early Friday cause I have to get the home care people for my sainted 97 year old mother.

Thats fine with me. Le Peeps in Bedford at 12 noon Saturday if anybody is interested, then we can cruise someplace, maybe do a quick car wash and meet up at Chucks for the show. See you this Saturday at noon. No need to reserve tables or whatever, lets just see who shows up, they can handle it. Its at the intersection of Harwood and Central.
