My buddy bought me a JLT intake for my birthday last week and I put it on yesterday. Took me about 15 minutes to get it on. What a difference I can notice! The deep ass diesel sound, a lot quicker throttle response, and it looks great! Thanks JLT!

I wasn't going to say anything because I thought it was my car? It does seem a bit slower off the line now though...

Hmmmmmmm!
I have still not re-installed mine. Running so good w/o it. It's appparently a tuning issue. IN your case, your EEC just may need time to figure out what to do with the extra air.
I ran mine for several months without improvement, just more noise...less power.
I am able to lay 10" from a standing start w/o it....
Maybe I'll try it out tomorrow night again....
Congrats on the nice gift.!

I don't understand why it would bog. Explain.

I was happily cruising along and heard about the JLT RAI kit and decided to get one. The claim of adding 8-10 HP was attractive.
I have a tune from SCT on my XCal-2. Car always ran great. I instsalled the Ram Air Intake and immidiately noticed the increased air flow via all the noise it made. Now, everyonr really likes all that noise, but I don't care if I get no performance gains. At Wide open Throttle the car BOGs like mad until I get to 4,000 RPMS, then I get the kick I expected.. I drove about 3 months with it like that, hopeing the EEC would pick up on the new found air. No dice. I was told it is a tuning issue, but can't afford new tunes.
I do think it is indeed a tuning issue, and the BOG should go away with the right tune.
There are still a coulple things I can try, but so many people have had what they call great success wiht the JLT kit. I don't know why I am one of the VERY few that can't seem to get this thing to work out well. I can't imagine EVERYONE who installed one of these went out and put their car on a DYNO and bought a new tune. I can't afford that.
Don't missunderstand me here. I really have nothing bad to say about the intake itself. It just didn't work so well for me thus far.
Am am still optomistic about getting it to work for me, as it has for so many others.
Oh, you know what I mean by BOG don't you. ??

Dragcity...One thing that escapes most owners, is that 1) yes, they are sucking more air due to increased volume of the bellows and reduced restrictions to the induction system, but that's also warmer engine bay air. 2) The hidden benefit of the OEM air box, is that it collected cold air from the the front of the car, through a relatively small opening in the core support. This path is also further blocked by the headlight pod, but it is (was) colder air, and colder makes a difference.
The JLT kit has the largest bellows I have seen for a Marauder, but that only means more capacity and less turbulence, like wearing shoes two sizes bigger than you need. But, being set back from the opening in the core support, there is less air getting pushed into the induction system from forward movement of the car, and it's warmer air to boot.
Just IMHO, carry on gents.

First, nice friend.
Second, nice clean engine bay.
Third, i would clean the chalk or whatever that is marking up your fuse box.

No issues with mine either.
To expand on Macs comment...
The data logger show hot under hood air while idleing. At the track, I did not see cooler air enter the system until second gear. I think that is too long.
My fancy homemade air box was a waist of time as far as keeping warm air out at the track.
I will try to get some numbers on the OEM box and intake.

I had just the opposite results. I couldn't break the tires before the tune and JLT. After the tune and install, I can smokem up a little, but she ran stronger. But these were my results.

Everything I know tells me to advance the craqp out of the timing to compensate for the new air. DR sent me a tune that allows me to advance timing up to 4 degrees, but that has not helped.
It's funny some of us have such varied results. Maybe it's just the air here in Buffalo, NY. Too many carcinagens.....
I'll re-install on Tuesday to see if anyhting improves again.

Thanks for the comments guys. I will clean that chalk off lol. Hmmm, perhaps when I get a tune I will make sure I tell whoever I go to that I have the JLT CAI. I could always try to turn the heat shield downwards more to block off more of the hotter air...

I got my tune from Dennis Reinhart shortly after my JLT install and have never had a bog with it. Runs like a scalded dog...now it's just waiting on my February Trilogy purchase.

Just IMHO, carry on gents.I actually have my JLT attached the the OEM box. Don't seem to notice any ill effects. Definitely notice a SOTP feel. HP gains dunno.

I've had mine on for a couple of weeks now, and I'm loving it. I wasn't really expecting any noticeable performance increase, because I've always heard that the MM factory intake is well-designed, and I KNOW what the air temperature can do to HP. In fact, I've never seen a car that responds to cooler air as much as this one does. When the air gets below 55degrees (haven't seen that for a while!!!), it's like this car picks up another 20 hp.
With that in mind, it SEEMS as though the car runs better with the JLT on it, but I don't have any numbers. I'm going to go to the track again in the fall and see if there's any difference. Even my wife noticed that the car seems to run better.
But the JLT does do exactly what I expected it to: MAKE LOTS OF NOISE!!!

Did my install on the JLT intake. Lost bottom end performance. Went back to the original system and just used the cone filter, got back bottom end performance.

A comment on the "bog" after JLT install. I noticed that the filter was very oily during the install - this actually caused it to slip off untill I wipped the sseal/lip off. I wound up cleaning the MAF sensor and all is good!
