This is the article that was in the thursday auto section of "The Detroit Free Press". It states what we already knew. We all drive a classic car.

That's neat that they actually acknowledged our Marauder.

Now I'm glad that FORD was stupid enough to kill the Marauder so quickly...

Because of their hasty decision, I now own an increasingly rare, sought after vehicle that will hold it's value well.

BTW: I now see LOTS of Dodge Chargers in various police departments replacing FORD's "Let's not make any improvements because their is no competition for it" Crown Vic.

Since 2003 CV PI has added a new aluminum front cross member with rack and pinion, 17 inch wheels, outboard mounted rear shocks, a new steering column and ignition setup, a tach, easier access wiring harness, a relocated brain box, electronic cruise control (option), bigger brakes, better seats with lumbar for driver, new headrests, new frame ..hydroformed front..,optional ballistic door panels, optional fire suppression, optional CD player, 200 amp alternator, idle time meter, optional adjustable pedals, dual stage air bags, optional side air bags, optional laminated side glass, 6 upfit prep packages, and so forth.. I would say that is more than doing nothing... there are more which I just can't remember at this time...Monday Morning and not enuf coffee yet..RAM

Yeah but it's slow. :(

Congrats to Ford for the above, but seriously they need to put more power in the car.

Real world cops do not see most of this stuff. They see SOTP power and styling.

Exactly:

4.6 SOHC vs. 5.7 HEMI

HEMI has lots more torque and horsepower, and a pushrod V8 is easier and cheaper to maintain.

Ha, those are the first real updates to the CV since 1979. And to

be honest, it needs ALOT more.

Well the question will be this, can the Charger with it's Mercedes-derived suspension jump curbs, train tracks, and keep up with the "General Lee" without falling apart?

Not saying a CVPI can jump a river, but they do seem to take abuse pretty well...

No, they are not the first real updates since 1979.

Try to get out a little more.

The HEMI is not the standard engine for the Police package Charger.

From what I understand, this HEMI is not necessarily cheaper to maintain, and it requires more maintenance.

I think I read somewhere that the CVPI would get the newer 3V 4.6 with 80-90 more HP for the next model year.

Has anyone else heard this?

What is the current hp rating for the CVPI?

Would you believe that Hemi uses 16 spark plugs? And I do not believe that they are platinum.

Apparently the Crown Vic will stay pretty much the same in 07 and 08, with bigger changes in 09.

IMO the Chrysler unibody will not hold up as good as the full framed CVPI.

Yeah, and let em squeeze a radio between the front seats. A tight fit Im sure. Ford should always try to improve the CVPI, but I think they should keep it around for a long time. If it aint broke....

My own guess is I don't think the CV/GM will go that long. I do believe that St. Thomas will be one of the plants that will go down. The platform is too old to save.

That is a good point....a unibody could become a pretzel with some of the LEOs high speed pursuits that I've seen on video.

I believe it has to do with the smog system, and has nothing to do with performance.

I was thinking the other day about how great it is to own a great car like the Marauder, it is very limited edition, some people dont even know what it is, I just drove from Atlanta to Clevland and I didnt even see one!!!! One thing I have seen on this site is that some members see the Charger that has just came out and see that it has some things the Marauder doesnt, and you know what, good for them because we have something they will never have, and that is a rare car!!! How many Chargers have you seen on the road? alot! And dont get me wrong I know they all dont have the Hemi in them but the Charger is a watered down Muscel car that dodge put out to replace the Intrepid, it looks cheap, and the interior is boxey, I am not a hater and I love cars of all makes, I just feel like we own a great piece of American Muscle car history, and for those who sell thier Marauder, think about the ones that still have it when you see it on Barrett Jackson in 15 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
